Re-Swatch: Polish Revolution Vajazzle

So after wearing Lilac Dream for a few days(despite the crap formula, it wore like IRON!), I decided to  update the mani with one of my favourite glitters - Polish Revolution Vajazzle.

Vajazzle is a great mix of warm and cool toned glitter in different shapes, sizes, and colours.  It's really fun, a total party in a bottle, and it goes really well with different base colours!

This is ONE COAT over Model's Own Lilac Dream.  Formula was great and glitter applied easily.

This Isn't Your Grandmothers Easter Manicure (Part 2): Now featuring 100% more blasphemy!

If this was her manicure she would be a)A bad ass granny. b) Me.  I am your grandmother.  I have a blog.  Deal with it.

So sticking to with my Easter theme from last year(Killer Bunny) I kept it Monty Python.  If you don't know who they are, get out.  No, Im kidding.  Just go out and get Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  I feel that would be a good intro.

This manicure is based on the Python's movie Life a Brian.  A story about Brian a Jewish man, born on the same day as, and is Jesus's neighbor who is subsequently mistaken for the Messiah.  This is my opinion is their best film.

So I have been wanting to do these nails for a year.  This is from the end of the film when everyone is getting crucified and Brian's spirits are lifted when everyone starts singing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life".  I'm not going to get into details as I don't want to spoil the movie :P.  The music notes represent the song(they are the actual beats).  I would have put people on the crosses but they were to small #Nailartproblems101.  My thumb is an alien spacecraft with a one eyed purple alien.  In one scene Brian gets abducted by aliens.  I know, I know...the spacecraft is different from the movie.  But this is all I could do with my talent.

Polish wise I used OPI's Over the Taupe, Suzi Loves Cowboys, and my boyfriend scales walls as well as Sephora by OPI's Break a Leg Warmer, an Orly who's name escapes me at the moment and acrylic paint.

 Copy of the films script

And this is the song

Oh and a Happy Belated Birthday to Mr. Eric Idle!!!

Model's Own Lilac Dream... Y U HAVE SUCH BAD FORMULA

Have you ever bought a polish in a colour that you loved and then tried to put it on only to find the formula to be so absolutely horrible that you almost stopped halfway through application?

Yeah, me too.

So I got my first Model's Own polishes from Ninja Polish recently, and I had heard good things about the brand and was excited to try it.  I decided to go for Lilac Dream first as I was going out with a friend who loves pink and purple and thought she'd appreciate it.

Well... If thinner doesn't help this one, she won't be coming out to play again.  This formula was an all around MESS.  Thick and goopy as hell, stringy, and there was no levelling in sight.  I am AMAZED it looked even remotely okay after top coat and drying, because this was just a hot mess.  I have never used a polish with a worse formula.  I haven't tried my two other polishes from the brand yet out of fear they'll be anything like this.  I hope I just got a bad bottle :(

(Don't get too used to my long nails! I chopped them down again, but not TOO short!)

Literary Lacquers - If It Pleases You: Magic in a bottle

I'll be honest with you.  Up until now I didn't review the polishes from Literary Lacquers, The Good Parts collection in any specific order.  Minus this.  And when I got the box containing all the polishes I tried all of them on a finger.  Minus this.  I did not want to waste a drop of it's magic.  The minute I saw If It Pleases You I KNEW it was my favourite.  I knew it had to be shared last.  And I knew that I could not bring myself to just swatch it and take it off.  It had to be a full mani.

If It Pleases You is bases on Anne Rice's The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty published under the pseudonym A.N Roquelaure.   The first book in a trilogy.  Inspired by Sleeping beauty, it's an erotic BDMS novel.  About Beauty who is awakened by her prince after 100 years in might I say a very fun way. And as Amy of Literary Lacquers explains "If it please you is what Beauty is taught to answer questions by her master".   Another book to add to my wishlist.  Also this trilogy has actually outearned Interview With The Vampire.

This polish is a stunning, unique, dark plum linear holographic polish.  And I don't know if this makes sense but it had a softness to it.  Indoors it's mainly plum with flashes of holo depending on the lighting.  And in the sun the holo really comes out to play!  It went on it 2 coats and application was as smooth as the finest draught beer you have ever tasted.  I have been wearing this for 3 days now and I only have a minor chip on the tip of my index finger.  But I blame that partially on me, partially on an aggressive wall.  I just love this.  I find most of the times when you think of holos you think of things like "Loud", "obnoxious", "MY RETINAS!!!".  None of these words come to mind with this.  I think of words like "Bold", "Sexy", "Classy".  It feels like a sophisticated holo.  Amazing colour and just enough holo that it doesn't take away from that.  If you can only get one bottle from this collection get this.

You guys should also know that since this was the last of the Literary Lacquers I was reviewing I really wanted to swatch there wearing the wrist restraints I own in case of intruders.  But someone forgot where they put them.  Ugh boys...am I right?

Photos all taken in sun or natural light

Literary Lacquers - Woman of Pleasure and Zipless: This post features naughty words!

So today I have two more polishes from Literary Lacquers The Good Parts Collection Woman of Pleasure and Zipless.

First up I have Woman of Pleasure.  Inspired by Fanny Hill:  Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure By John Cleland.  Written in 1748 it was banned in the UK and US until 1963.   This is actually one of the books on the list I REALLY want.  It's a periwinkle crelly with matte pink and magenta glitter along with blue and lavender glitter.  I used 3 coats, but if you use slightly thicker coats you could get away with 2.  When I first saw this polish I knew I was going to like it but I didn't think I would like it as much as I did.  I love how it looks on me and I think it's great for the summer.

Flash! A-ha!

Next is Zipless.  Inspired by Fear of Flying by Erica Jong.  Amy of Literary Lacquers said this was inspired by the narrators search for what she calls a "zipless fuck".  According the the author "It is "zipless" because "when you came together, zippers fell away like rose petals, underwear blew off in one breath like dandelion fluff. For the true ultimate zipless A-1 fuck, it was necessary that you never got to know the man very well." So no strings attached boinking.  This polish is a red jelly with orange undertones, small red glitter and holographic gold glitter, as well as larger medium sized gold glitter.  I used 3 coats for this.  While I like the polish itself I don't think it looks good on me.  But anything with orange in it is generally a hit or miss for me.  So I decided it layer one coat over Cult nails Quench, a red crelly.  I think it looked much better on me.  Although some of the red glitter was hidden.

The next two are with Cult Nail Quench as undies.

You can find these polishes and more over at Literary Lacquers Etsy shop here.   The polishes(15ml bottles) retail for $10USD.  And follow Literary Lacquers on facebook(And you should also check out their giveaway that's on right now!).  One more from Literary Lacquer tomorrow!

Literary Lacquers - Laters, Baby: All of the other charcoal/black holos can take a seat for a second.

I wish I could post these earlier but I'm also working on filming and editing a video for something REALLY important. And I didn't think that would take as long as it's taking :/

So let's begin with a bit of background for the book.  This is of course another polish from The Good Parts collection inspired by erotic fiction.  Literary Lacquers, Laters, Baby is inspired by Fifty Shades of Gray.  I don't know much about this book.  I think it's one of the more unknown pieces of erotic fiction in this collection.  It's the one with the painter that only paints naked people in gray.  Right?

Now on to the polish!

I know everyone is going crazy for those new Colour Club and China Glaze holo's. But in my honest opinion this is one of my favourites so far.  It's easy to make crazy holo's but I think it's much harder(especially with all the holos out now) to make something unique.

Laters, Baby does just that.  It is a pigmented charcoal mostly linear holo that was opaque in 2 medium coats.  Now here's where why it stands out.  Not only a linear holo it's also full of larger scattered holographic glitter.   When you are outdoors the linear holo takes center stage and the scattered takes a back seat, but still peeks through giving it that extra unf.  And indoors it's the opposite way around.  This polish NEVER falls flat.   It's not like any holo out there.

You guys should also know I took over 200 photos of this.  I went insane.  But fear not I will only be posting 150 of those.

You can sort of see the larger holo glitter stand alone in these photos.  It's more evident in real life.  Also you can see a lot more.

More photos where you can see the larger holo glitter
Photos wither taken in sun or indoors in natural light.

You can find these polishes and more over at Literary Lacquers Etsy shop here.   The polishes(15ml bottles) retail for $10USD.  And follow Literary Lacquers on facebook.  Oh also once the page hits 1000 followers there will be a big giveaway! More to come from Literary Lacquer tomorrow!

Literary Lacquers - Roissey: Well aren't you a pleasant surprise!

Literary Lacquers Roissey is inspired by Story of O Written by Anne Desclos under the pseudonym Pauline in 1954.  "Story of O is a tale of female submission about a beautiful Parisian fashion photographer, O, who is blindfolded, chained, whipped, branded, pierced, made to wear a mask, and taught to be constantly available. Despite her harsh treatment, O grants permission beforehand for everything that occurs, and her permission is consistently sought."

Out of all the polishes in this recent collection inspired by erotic fiction this was the one in the bottle I didn't know how I felt about.  It was like when you meet someone and you think "I just met you and I don't know what to think of you.  I need to hang around you more so I can see where I stand."  So this manicure hung out with me all day!

Turns out I really like it! Huzzah! Roissey is a Royal blue shimmer that has bits of purple shimmer peaking through.  It also contains black shredded glitter which I find gives it a gritty feeling(and I don't mean gritty to the touch because on that note it's not.) I mean it gives the polish as a whole a kind of gritty vibe.  Which seems to go along perfectly with the book it was inspired by.

Now the polish was a bit on the thin side.  Normally you could get away with 3 coats but I needed 4.  And that's mainly because due to the polishes thin nature and my yellow nails.  So I would end up with patches when the polish looked green.

Depending on the lighting you are in the polish can range from very sheer looking to completely opaque.  Direct light gives it the sheer illusion.  In everyday normal indoor lighting it looks mostly like the 4th(taken indoor with artificial lighting on my phone) or 3rd photo depending on how bright the room is.

Favourite Musical.

So this question was littered with Hairspray, Wicked, Phantom, Les Mis, RENT and Cats(I'm almost positive it had the most).  And not one Starlight Express.  The touching story about trains...who fall in love. If that doesn't win you over it also has a character called CB the Red Caboose.  He is described as "A two-faced psychopath who causes disaster wherever he goes."
Anyways here's what you guys said!

"This is a Swedish one: Kristina fran Duvemala"
"YESSS!!!! Andrew Lloyd Weber forever!" That's not a musical but I'm sure if you wrote it up he would gladly produce it. I mean he is the mastermind behind starlight express.
"Not Rent. I saw it in Nashville and I didn't appreciate seing the girl's Hoo Ha when she leaned over and mooned the crowd. We were on the third row."
"oh, well... does Opera qualify as musical? if so my fave is Rigoletto (there even is some dancing too ;D)"
"Yes, but they can't be overly musically. My favorite musical would have to be Sound of Music if you can even call that a musical." That's probably the epitome of a musical.
"urinetown" I have done this show, it is amazing.
"Disney On Ice"
"One Direction" The musical?

And the last "question" I gave no instructions.   Just wrote Benedict Cumberbatch.

"He's so flawless I CAN'T TAKE IT"
"Reminds me of Mozart haha" Fraternal Twins.

"Looks like a rabbit" Identical twins.
"sexy holmes"
"I do believe you mean, Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch." I'm sorry.  I feel like I have offended you.
"Yummmmm! But weird. But YUM!" My feelings on tofu.
"Sherlock, my sexy lurve..."
"He definitely looks nothing like I imagined. Dommage." Wrong.

"I DONT HAVE THE BBC!!! IT IS NOT FAIR! I WANT TO WATCH SHERLOCK TOO! NOT JUST WATCH THE EH SO SO AMERICAN 'ELEMENTARY'. I also wanted to answer the Wikipedia entry, because I do love his full name: 'Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch (born 19 July 1976) is an English actor. His most acclaimed roles include Stephen Hawking in the BBC drama Hawking (2004); William Pitt in the historical film Amazing Grace (2006); protagonist Stephen Ezard in the miniseries thriller The Last Enemy (2008); Paul Marshall in Atonement (2007); Bernard in Small Island (2009); and Sherlock Holmes in the modern BBC adaptation series Sherlock (2010).' I don't really know what you wanted to know. Maybe nothing. Maybe you should delete my entry. I don't know, but all I do know is people better stop talking about how wonderful the BBC Sherlock is, because I CANNOT WATCH IT AND AM VERY JEALOUS!!!" I looked it up.  It also airs on PBS.  I HOPE THAT HELPED!!!

Halo-Graphic... Plus Blaze?

So in my last post I showed you Zoya Blaze, a gorgeous raspberry polish, and in the post before that I showed you some of the Color Club Halo Hues - Today I'm showing you a little of both.

I don't have a vast amount of time to do fun nail art as much as I'd like to, simply due to my work schedule, so what's a girl to do with a day off??  Fun mani time!

So first I'm going to show you Color Club Halo-Graphic alone.  Like the other Halo Hues, I found this to be a great polish with great coverage and a good formula.  No dragging, no dulling, no bald spots, YAY!

Isn't she pretty???  I am kind of in love.
So, once Blaze started getting tip wear that was BEYOND not okay, I decided to try a fun and easy tape mani with Halo-Graphic, just to kind of upgrade my mani.  I love love LOVE how this came out and I will totally be doing this again, it was so much fun!

BTW, these photos were taken on DAY FOUR of wear for the complete manicure.  FOUR DAYS OF A HOLO WITH ONLY TIP WEAR?  What is this insanity?  Colour me impressed.
