Essie's Naughty N' Nice is an off white cream, It kinda has a yellow custard tinge to it depending on the lighting. I really like this colour. It doesn't look like white out... that really all the positives I can say about it.
First off I needed four coats make it opaque. And the formula itself was iffy (granted it was quite an old bottle). Drying time was horrific. After having it on for 6 hours I took a nap and it royally messed up some of my nails. Not just dents but they had shifted on the nail. And currently it's been over 12 hours since I put it on. While no longer shifting, they are still prone to denting. Edit: I wore this again as an accent nail and I wore it for a few days. I don't think it ever dried. One finger got dented like crazy and the other was pushed back after wearing it for over 12 hours.
Great colour but it's not worth it. I'm sure you can find something more manageable out there.

OPI - Suzi Loves Cowboys
Ok I love, love, love this polish and all it's chocolaty goodness. Suzi loves cowboys is a brown cream. It reminds me of amazing milk chocolate. Application was amazingly easy. It evened itself out with no problems at all and I used 3 coats. It was super shiny even without a top coat.
Gah! I love colours likes this on my skin tone. I would definitely recommend this polish to people. Especially if you have a warmer skin tone.

Sally Hansen - Gilty Pleasure
So this is my first (and only) gold polish. You would think I had more. Anyhoo I probably wouldn't have bought it on my own. This was actually a gift from a friend for Christmas. And can I say, I'm digging it (Sure I can. This is my blog!)
Gilty Pleasure is an shimmery antique gold. It's not too yellow or orange which I think (personally) looks blah.
I wont lie when I fist got it as a gift I was a little hesitant. Not because it was gold and I had none but because it was metallic and they have a tendency of being streaky and looking bad. But fear not! Streakyness was minimal and I doubt you would be able to see it unless you hands are right up in someone face.
I used 3 coats in these pictures. The formula was ok. While it was easy to manage it wasn't the best. And I know lots of people don't like the wide brush but I really like it. It suits my nails perfectly and allows for super easy application!
I would totally wear this as a Valkyrie. It would go with my suit made of gold. I would totally have a gold suit. A bedazzled gold suit.

Wet N Wild: Night Prowl
Wet N Wild's Night prowl is a black/charcoal jelly base filled with fuschia glitter. It's something that I could see wearing a lot more close to Halloween. For this I used 3 coats for full opacity. And the formula was superb.
I actually didn't think I would like this as much as I do. It looks nice in the bottle but it looks even nicer on the nails. I think I like this because it's a) Dark and b) Has glitter that isn't obnoxious.
I'm not sure where you would get this in Canada as we for some reason don't have a lot of Wet N Wild polishes (anymore) in the stores*. On my visits to the states you can find Wet N Wild at pretty much any drug store.
Now on to the pictures! (Which by the way I'm still fiddling with day by day. Trying to figure out what setting work best, lighting and all that jazz.)

OPI Holiday Glow
So today I have Holiday Glow from OPI's 2009 Holiday Wishes collection. I bought it a few months ago when I just popped into a salon randomly. I wore it for the first time yesterday. To be honest I didn't love this colour as much as I thought I would. Don't get me wrong I think it's beautiful and I'm glad I have it. And it you know what? It looks great on me. I just wish I had been more excited about it. On a scale out of 10 this would be a 6 or a 7. It's equivalent to a satisfying but not blow my taste buds out of my mouth meal.
The colour is a shimmery, reddish, brown. And it is full of tiny gold micro glitter. It really does glow on the nail. I needed 3 coats for it to be completely opaque. And of course top coat to brings out all the pretty. Honestly the photos don't do it justice.
This colour is discontinued but I know where I live I still see it in a bunch of places.
Anyways off to the photos!

First swatch!!! OPI's Metallic 4 Life
*Throws confetti* Huzzah! So this is my first real review!!!! Yay! So first up I have OPI's Metallic For life. It's from the Nicki Minaj collection. Now while I'm not a huge fan of her music I do go out of my way to learn her songs just so I can do them at Karaoke. Out of the whole collection this was the only one I wanted (I ended up getting it as a Christmas gift).
Metallic 4 Life is a bunch of hex glitter and tiny square glitter in a black base. Now I know I'm not a fan of glitter but this one was pretty bad ass once I got it on.
Application was a little tricky. The formula was goopy, but I was expecting that. The first coat was really sheer and it took me three-ish coats tillI stopped caring if it was opaque. And I say three-ish because even after three coats I still had some bald patches that I fixed.
Now I don't know of or have anything like this so I'm glad I have it. But the application was a pain so it's not something that I would just wear on a normal day. If you're a fan of glitter and dark colours I would suggest you get it. I know some people have said that you can get the same effect with just a plain black base and glitter on top, but I don't think so. There's something unique and different about it because the glitter is already in the base. And in my opinion it gives it a look you otherwise wouldn't get by putting glitter on top of a plain base.
This is for sure Valkyrie worthy. Epic stuff.

Snooooooooooooooow!!!!!!
So I live in a big touristy city. There are oddles of souvenir shops everywhere. In the window of a shop I walk by all the time there is this shirt.
I always see it and think it's cute. Granted the idea of being in a snow storm with a polar bear is horrific to say the least. Anyhoo I decided since we got our first snow fall of the week last week I would do a winter design using said bear (Who I will now refer to as Fred).
Say hi to Fred.
I used Clair's Snowball on all my fingers and then I covered all but my ring finger with OPI's Happy Anniversary. Then I just painted on Fred's face using a dotting tool. It was super shimmery in person.
Fred can also apparently double as a ghost.
Fun fact: I hate winter.

Christmas Time... has come and gone. But I don't care.
Let's kick this blog off with something that doesn't stink. This is the mani I did for Christmas. Neat eh?
I used Essie's Fishnet stockings with OPI's Got the Blues For Red on top. I also used Orly's Lucky duck. Both of these were topped with Essie's As Gold as it Gets. For the tree I used an assortment of greens, which include more Lucky Duck, and Essie's Sew Psyched and some random Wet N' Wild that I've had for over 10 years. And the tiny bit of gold on top is Sally Hansen's Gilty Pleasure (As is Santa's buckle). The white is Clair's Snowball. Santa was made using just Fishnet Stockings and Clair's Snowball.
I wore this to a Christmas Party and people were pretty impressed. It's nice knowing people who are easily impressed.

1st post!
Who the flip am I?
I'm a girl in her early 20's who loves nail polish and boy bands.
Why Varnished Valkyrie?
I assume if I were flying out of the sky on my horse, getting ready to choose who dies in battle, my nails would be wicked awesome.
Faves?
As far as brands go I love OPI, Butter London and Chanel. I also am a sucker for vampy colours.
Things you find ehhhhh...
Not gonna lie. Glitter. Now I love it but at the same time I can't go wearing it everyday. I like to at least pretend I'm all growed up sometimes. Also stamping. I just don't like how it looks... Stamped.
Will you update every single day?
Sometimes I might. Sometimes I might not. I try and have a life.
Anything else we should know about you?
If you don't like Take That you can leave now. Or stay... but don't tell me you don't like them.
