Emileeeeeeee!

Guys where I am is always so hot, and it's horrible. I feel sticky all the time :( I hate summer and I hate the sun. I really do. But you know what I do love? Singer/songwriter MIKA! This post has nothing to do with him, minus the fact that the polish sort of has the same name as one of his songs! Close enough!


Today's polish is brought to us by the Born Pretty Store. Now none of these polishes have individual names, just numbers. But the way it works is each girl has 3 polishes accociated with her name. So you can also get Emily in a red and peaches and cream colour.

Let's talk about the obvious first. The bottle. I can't deny it, it is super cute and the bottle alone makes it a great addition to any collectors stash. My one problem with the bottle is because Emily is so tall the brush is super short. Not only that, but at certain angles Emily's torso hides the nail you are trying to paint, which was a bit annoying for me, but I imaging it would bother people a bit more who didn't paint their nails as often.

The colour is beautiful. It's a shimmery pink/silver, that also looks like it has a bit of blue! Application was great, I used 3 coats for the sake of the photograph, but if I wasn't photographing it, I would use 2 coats. Now this formula is promoted as a safe for children polish that has no smell.  I'm going to be honest with you, I have no idea if that is true. The writing on the box it came in isn't in English so I couldn't tell you if it was actually safe for kids. But I will say it had a smell, a really strong one. It reminded me of Kleancolour polishes, which if you have ever smelt, you know they smell like poison. Polishes like the peel off one which were also promoted as non toxic pretty much had no smell to them. This was the total opposite.

Literary Lacquers As The Waltz Was Ending + Love You Forever: I can't angry blog.

This post was actually originally written yesterday, and the whole thing started out as a rant at something I was mad about.  Now I generally love sharing with you guys stuff about me, but when I read it over it was not only did a write something that came off as VERY angry.  It came off something personal that I didn't want to tell someone, but I still wanted them to find out about.  Subsequently it made writing the actual review near impossible, because I just wasn't in the right head space.  So I had to step away and come back to this.  I didn't want to write a sub par review because of things that had nothing to do with it.  So lesson learnt, I can't and wont blog angry.

Today I have 2 polishes for you.  Both Literary Lacquers, and both from the community collection.

First up I have As The Waltz Was Ending, created by Lacey from My Boyfriend Hates Makeup.  And is inspired by one of her favourite books As the Waltz Was Ending by Emma MacAlik Butterworth. "An autobiographical account of a young girl whose ballet career with the Vienna State Opera was interrupted by the invasion of the Nazis and who later had to fight for her life during the Russian occupation."  To check out why Lacy chose this book go here.

ATWWE is a pink-purple liner holo.  And I'll be honest with you, it was so hard to photograph.  It always came out more purple than pink.  But the shots I did end up with are very close.  I used 3 coats and the formula was typical of a Literary Lacquer holo...  Perfect.

Next up I have my favourite of the four polishes from this collection I have reviewed called Love You Forever.  It was created by Crisdee and her daughter Keera, and was inspired by the Robert Munsch children's book Love You Forever. "It tells the story of the evolving relationship between a boy and his mother."  If you would like to see the full story behind why they chose this book check it out here.

Love You Forever is a sky blue linear polish.  And man oh man is it beautiful.  Again like ATWWE, I used 3 coats and the formula was perfect.

Overall I love Literary Lacquers holo polishes.  They aren't super holo indoors, but they come to life in sunlight.  And while they may not be super holo indoors, that's ok with me, because the colours are all so beautiful.  Even when you can't see the holo in full effect, the colour itself can stand on it's own.

I don't know how I feel about you... I think I just fell out of like.

So just a quick post because I've been a bad blogger this year :P

1)  I don't think I have mentioned it here(or I may have just mentioned it in passing), but we have an Instagram now.  So everyone should go and follow us over there because that's the cool thing to do.  Everyone's doing it.

2)  This man.  All I did was use some white and then I used the saran wrap technique and blotted on Essence Ultimate Pink and Milani Dude blue.  I finally ended with a square neon pink stud from The Born Pretty Store.  I don't know if I like it.  I liked it when I originally finished it, but I kinda just fell out of like.  There's nothing wrong with it, I just had a really short like affair.

What do you think about this mani?  Are you in like with it?

F4 - Hocus Pocus: Well worth the wait.

Well Halloween has come and gone.  And I'll be honest with you guys the one thing I will be missing will be the horror movies that are always on the television.  I love a good(or hilariously bad) horror film.

This polish that I wore today was part of F4's Halloween line last year.  I didn't wear it last year so I decided that this year I was going to wear it on Halloween for the first time.  I wanted my first time to to be special guys.  So I have been sitting on this polish for over a year and that day has finally come.  Let me tell you it was well worth the wait(OMG she used the title of the post in the post...like in movies).

I decided to go with the obnoxious look.  My base was a bright orange by Orly(I could not find the name on the mini bottle), and I used one coat of Hocus Pocus over it.  Hocus Pocus is tiny matte black glitter and pink glitter, as well as larger pieces of green and yellow glitter.  Formula was super easy to use and you could probably get this to be opaque on its own in 3 coats or so.

So do I do Christmas stuff now?

Claw Polish - Phantom + The cutest zombie hand ever!

Let's just bang out the polish review first.  I actually won Phantom!   I was going to try and find a bottle of China Glaze Immortal(Halloween 2012) originally but when I won this my cravings for a shimmery gray had been satisfied.

Phantom is medium, leaning dark gray, with silver, blue and pink shimmer.  It was opaque in only 2 coats.  It was pretty much a perfect gray polish.  Honestly if you like gray polishes you should try and get your hands on this.  I can't tell you where to buy them or how much they are as I won this and have never seen it in stores.

I wore it for 2 days before I decided I wanted to do some nail art on it.  So I thought it would be cute to do a little graveyard mani.  And my ring finger is a zombie hand reaching out.  I don't know why but my first thought was "That's a cute little hand."  My second thought was "It's probably a child."  Then I started thinking, would I have it in me to kill this undead child?  Probably.  The cross is a little decrepit and uneven looking, but I'm just going to say it's because it's an unknown grave, that has been neglected and forgotten over time.

I look mildly jaundice!

LynBDesigns - Deadly Nightshade: VHS??????

This polish is from LynBDesigns The Nightmare Begins collection (It's inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas for those of you who have yet to catch on).   If you don't know about her brand most of the polishes are fandom related.  I'm 97% sure she has the largest collection of Doctor Who polishes :)

Now back to this polish.  I'm going to be honest with you guys.  I do love this film, but I haven't seen it in YEARS.  I'm going to blame it on the fact that I own a copy of this film on VHS*.  I have a VHS player but it's annoying.  Woe is me.  But I really want to watch it again in the next few days.

So Deadly Nightshade is what Sally put into Doctor Finkelstein soup in order for him to fall asleep and her to escape(He made her, she a rag doll).  The polish is a purple pink, with super fine green shimmer.  In the bottle it reads more purple than pink but when you put it on your nails you for sure get purple pink.  It was also more sheer than what I expected looking at it in the bottle, but at the same time it surprised me by only needed 3 coats for opacity.  I also layered one coat over a dark purple(China Glaze Urban Nights).  When you layer it over a darker colour the green for sure takes center stage.

Onto the photos!  I actually found the green to be the hardest to capture.  You can see it in the photos but it's a bit more green in real life.  And the last photo is over the purple.  Not only that but I used flash to show you exactly what the shade of green looks like.  Know that the flash makes all those streaks pop out. It does not look streaky in real life.

Barry M - Copper ft. Creepy men

If I had a copper penny for ever creepy man I've encountered I would have quite a few.  A few days ago I was at a train station, sitting by myself, and a guy approached me.  Mind you the station wasn't busy, but it was also far from dead.  Anyways he stood sort of in front of me for a minute trying to get my attention, but I was "doing things" on my phone.  I then briefly looked up, and apparently that meant "Yes, take a seat, and start talking".  So he sat down, and said "Hey girl I was just-" and that's when he started stroking my arm.  I immediately got up and said "Nope" and walked away.  Almost as soon as I got up and started walking away he sprung up and was borderline jogging away.  I think he thought I was going to call for security.

Anyways on the topic of copper here is Barry M Copper.  There is nothing creepy or sketchy about this colour.  Depending on how you look at it Copper can either be copper, lean more towards brown, or gold, with hits of green and pink.  It has a foil finish and it is beautiful.  It came out last summer and I have had it for quite some time.  This is another why didn't I wear this before polish.  And on top of that it had amazing wear.  I had it on for 5 days(no basecoat) and all I had was a bit of tip wear.

Now I have heard this is a dupe for OPI Warm and Fozzy but since I don't own it I can't say for sure.  But I can say that from photos I've seen they are pretty close. Either way I am glad I have this!

Femme Fatale - Gilded Rose: What's going on?!?! I don't wear pink? Or do I?

First this has nothing to do with this polish but I have to let it out.  I HATE when people remove mt watermark!  Someone took a photo of mine, removed the watermark, re-posted it on tumblr either two days ago and now it has 33,000+ notes.  I honestly have no problem with people using my photos just leave the watermark!!! (Oh and it was the 53 layers of polish post :P). On the bright side the 53 layers of polish(The WATERMARKED version) along with some of our other wackier nail art was featured on SHEfinds!  So go and check that out!!!

Now onto my final Femme Fatal polish.  Gilded Rose.  I meant to write this a couple days ago but I wasn't feeling all that swell.  Anyways, as most of you know I don't wear pink polishes.  I saw this in the bottle I though "Pretty, but I don't think it will do anything for me."  I was very wrong!  I ended up wearing this for days.  It rarely matched any of the clothing I owned unless I was wearing black, but I could care less.

Gilded Rose it stuffed to the brim with various glitter.  Tiny lavender and holographic gold pieces, as well as small and medium pink pieces, as well as small gold and holo gold pieces.  There's also stars.  Holo gold stars!  I layered one coat over OPI's Step Right Up! a soft pink shade.  Application was super easy.  The only glitter I placed down myself was the star, because I want it on an exact spot and I didn't want loads of other glitter to start covering it.  And right before I took it off I wanted to see how it looked matte.  *points to bottom of post* Pretty eh? I think I'll layer it over black next time!

Again this is NOTHING like what I would usually wear, but I'm in love with this!  It just seems so right.  Honestly out of all the Femme Fatale polishes I was sent this polish was the one out of all 4 that on my own terms I NEVER would have even glanced at.

Nicole By OPI - Vio-Let's Tak About Red: 39 hours awake. I'm fine.

Just for kicks I decided to write this review after not sleeping for 39 houts, just for fun.  I have also not decided to edit the text.  Ihaven't even taken photos of the polish yet!  But I'm wearing it so it's all good.

First of I don't remember the name of the polish at the moment.  But it's Nicole by OPI.  I'm not going to pot this right away so I'll put it up in the title when I actually do post it.  This name of the polish really describes the polish.  This would make all the sense if I could remember it.  But <Insert polish name> is a purple with pink undertoes and fine pink shimmer.  I had to use 3 coats for full coverage.  I was worried after the first coat because it looked quite pink.  And as you know I'm not much of a paink gal.  But after the second coat everything was fine as it leant more towards purple.  This is probably the girliest colour I have actually really liked. Normally I wouldn't have given this polish a second thought, but it was given to me as a gift!

*at that point something distracted me and I stopped writing.  I eventually went to bed 2 hours later*

Annnnnyyyyywwwaaayyyyysss  I pretty much said everything I had to say about the polish in my sleep deprived state.  The only other things I want to mention are 1)Even though I did use three coats the formula was excellent. 2)In the photos the polish leans pink.  In real life it is more purple, closer to how it looks in the last photo. 3) I clearly didn't remember the name of the polish last night.  I said the name of the polish describes the polish.  It does not.  Mainly because it says Red.  This polish is a pinkish-purple with no signs of Red.

What colour polish do you normally not wear? How long is the longest you have stayed awake for.  I was up for 58 hours once.

Literary Lacquers Raspberry Cordial: Yes I am wearing a bright pink polish.

So I'm feeling much better.  My sore throat is gone but I keep sneezing!  Argh!

Enough about me.  Let's move on to a more important issue...The sun.  I got these polishes last Tuesday and there has not been sun out since then.  Normally I would like that,  but not when I have pretty holos to show!  Today the sun FINALLY decided to show its silly, hydrogen filled face.  Huzzah!

Today I have for you Raspberry Cordial.  Raspberry Cordial(check out this recipe) is what Anne thinks she serves to her best friend Diana Berry.  But in reality it was actually current wine, that of course made Diana drunk.  This happened to me once.  But it was rum...And I knew it was rum.

The polish is a bright pink linear holographic, with larger scattered holographic glitter as well as pink glitter.  Because of that it sort of reminds me a lot of Laters, Baby from Literary Lacquers The Good stuff collection.  I used 3 coats for full opacity, but you could get away with 2 or even a layer over a pink cream.  Now I'm not one for pink polishes(out of over 300 posts this is the 3rd time I've even reviewed a pink polish), but I really like this one.  I was standing in a dimly lit room and I could still see the larger scattered holo sparkling.  If you are a fan of pink this is something you need.  Consider this an order you pink lovers!

Literary Lacquers Anne With an E: Aren't you the little surprise!

You know how there's always that one polish in a collection that you look at and say "I have nothing again you, you're pretty, but...I dunno.  I just don't think we're gonna click."  And then the more you look at in in the bottle the more your mind starts to say "Actually I think I do like you!".  I had these feeling followed by "I know what polish would look FANTASTIC with you" and "I'm hungry."

Little book info first!  Anne With an E is how Anne insists her name is spelt as it looks better than Ann without the E.

Now the polish!  It's medium silver and multicoloured iridescent, hex glitter.  As well as some large and super tiny multicoloured iridescent, hex glitter.  You can pretty much put this over any base.  Over a lighter colour you get this whimsical, fairy tale feel,  And over darker colours you get this cosmic feel.

The first colour I tried it on was Essence Sweet as Candy.  I knew these two HAD to be layered together.  I thought their creaminess would mesh perfectly together.  I used one coat on these ones.  I decided for my darker polish to use H&M Plum.  As I wanted something dark that wasn't black.  On this I used 2 coats.  You should know on the darker polish you could see the creamy base.  Not so much after the first coat, but after the second.  I would say if you are using more than one coat of this over a dark colour be careful.  The milkiness looks fin but if you're not careful it may look patchy.

I think I can safely say this polish is amazing!  Even as someone who dosn't wear soft colours a lot I think this is a great look and I have a dress that goes PERFECTLY with it!

Literary Lacquers Marilla's Amethyst Brooch: Any excuse to whip out my googly eyed amethyst

Blah, I'm getting sick :(.  My throat is raw and overall I just feel really yucky.  And to top it all off I'm cold.  Poop.  My problems aside lets move on to another one of Literary Lacquers polishes from the new Anne of Green Gables collection.

Today I have Marilla's Amethyst Brooch.  Now the name of the polish gives two things away. 1)It was a brooch that belonged to Marilla, the lady who along with her brother adopted Anne.  It was a favourite of hers.  2) The colour of the polish is Amethyst.  Well if you really want to get specific Literary Lacquers describes it as Amethyst shimmer with a pink to orange color-shifting flash.  I only needed 2 coats for full opacity but you may need 3 depending on how thick or thin your coats are.  While getting the orange shimmer to show may be a bit trickier the pink is very evident.  This polish kind of reminds me of Essence Color & Go Oh My Glitter.  This polish is like Oh My Glitter's complex, mature sister.  Overall this is a colour I really like.  It's glowy, fun, not afraid to show it, and at the same time is not obnoxious.

And just so you know he last 2 photos are with my chunk of raw amethyst.  And yes, the amethyst has googly eyes.  Because what 16 year old doesn't want a rock with googly eyes for her birthday!  I think it makes the rock even more beautiful.
