Fantasy Fire.. Be still my heart!

I love having friends in crazy places, so when five little bottles of Fantasy Fire came into my life, I had one of my friends in England to thank.  If you don't own this baby, GET ON IT.  I didn't think it would be as kickass as it is, but I am in loveeee.

I swatched it over four different things so you can see the differences.  As you'll see, dark colours are best.

Index: OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest
Middle: Illamasqua Stance
Ring: Illamasqua Poke
Pinky: $OPI Seriously It's a Naan Issue

As you can see, it looks best over the two on the ends, which are the darkest, and it looks AMAZING over Every Day Is Oktoberfest.  It still looks great on the others even if it doesn't photograph as well, I promise!

I made this one its own photo because it's my favourite and my post and I am a REBEL.

Mink Mitten 2.0. Happy Hands, indeed!

So I promised some lovely layering with Manglaze Mink Mitten, and here it is!  I actually came upon this combo on another blog while looking for swatches of MM, and I happened to own both polishes and I fell in love with them together!

So, I present:  Mink Mitten + Happy Hands Motherboy!

Motherboy is another new favourite from the previously mentioned Happy Hands I've Made A Huge Mistake collection(Arrested Development <3 <3 <3).  Amazing matte glitter in different shapes and sizes, all different pastel shades.  And there's my beloved square glitter!  And those large green hexes...  It's amazing over so many things, and I've already worn it over navy blue as well, and it's just ridiculous how gorgeous it is.  Formula is thick, but applies easily with a bit of patience.  Well worth it for her beautiful it is.  This is one dabbed coat over Mink Mitten.

OPI Swimsuit... Nailed it! and Last Friday Night

So I love blue.  I think it's a beautiful colour and it really reminds me of summer.  I wear so much blue in the summer, and this is one of my favourites!

When the Miss Universe collection came out, I was kind of lukewarm.  I was excited about the glitter, because it's me and I'm always excited about glitter, but the other colours just bored me from the promo shots.

And then I saw Swimsuit...Nailed it.  And we became best friends.  It's PERFECT.  A beautiful blue foil that simply glows from within.  I have loved previously wearing it with a coat of a holographic glitter, like Servin' Up Sparkle, but I decided to try it with Last Friday Night from the Katy Perry collection(one of my top layering polishes!) and I am loving it.  The opalescent glitter shows so many colours and really catches the light beautifully.  It looks like the ocean.  Really gorgeous.

This is two coats of Swimsuit... Nailed It, and then a Last Friday Night gradient on top.

I freaking love instagram.  So easy to share my nails and baking joy <3

The rest of the photos are outdoor, natural light.

Do you guys like this as much as I do?  What would YOU layer over Swimsuit... Nailed It?

Essie Fiji + Nubar 2010 = Probably the girliest thing I've ever had on my nails!

So I was in a stanky mood the other day(I think Kas and I are mentally connected or something because I find our bad days coincide far too often) and I decided to cheer myself up by doing a nice treatment on my hair and putting some pretty, girly, pink polish on my nails.  I reached into the Untrieds bin and found Essie Fiji, the much discussed pink I had bought but never actually gotten around to putting on.  I put two thin coats of Nubar 2010 on top to add a little punch and voila!

It's a beautiful pink, to be sure, but I don't think it's stealing the title of my favourite light pink away from Pink Friday just yet. The formula leaves a LOT to be desired.  At three coats it still wasn't perfect, but since I was layering I didn't bother with a fourth.  I think I could get away with 3 VERY CAREFUL coats, but 4 would be the norm.  It's also a little thick, but not unmanageable.  It gives me a little bit of lobster hands and unless I was going to high tea, I probably wouldn't reach for it again on a normal day unless I was layering it again.  But, that said, I still like this.  It's a very pretty, simple look.  I'll keep it on until it chips.  Going on three days now!

Look at that sparkle!

What's your favourite pale pink?
And what's your take on flakies? Kas and I are split, weigh in!

My new favourite mani for spring/summer?

So this week has been INSANE.  I've been working just about every day, and I had a "school" day for work.  I'm glad to have a couple of days off.

I've been coveting Cult Nails Captivated since I first laid eyes on it about 9-10 months ago.  The beautiful orange jelly and glitter were just calling to me!  But by the time they shipped to Canada, it was gone.  I had resigned myself to living without it, but then they announced it was being brought back, and I knew I'd be first in line to get my hands on this, the perfect layering polish.

It came in the mail about 5 days ago, and I wore this mani for four days, including to a major event for the skincare line I work for.  My customers might have loved it more than I did!

I decided to layer it over a hot pink foil, and I found that it flattered my skin tone really well, which was a great bonus.  It turned into this beautiful coral-y colour, and it had that amazing "lit from within" quality.  In the sun, the sparkles really came alive and looked like glowing embers.

Here we go:  2 coats of OPI Be a Dahlia, Won't You? with two coats of Cult Nails Captivated.

Blurred to show the sparkle.

Look at that glow!

I think this'll be amazing for the summer, and I can't wait to layer Captivated over other things.  Any suggestions for combinations you'd like to see?
