LynBDesigns - Ghostlike Charms

Here is my fourth polish from LynBDesigns The Nightmare Begins collection!

Ghostlike Charms is a sheer, cloudy polish, full of purple micro shimmer.  It also has silver and holographic glitter, in small squares, hex's and bars.

I don't know what it is but recently I have been really digging these more girly, soft colours.  I mean it's not something I would wear most of the time, but considering there was a time I wouldn't even consider wearing stuff like this.

I first decided to layer it over something dark, so I used Barry M's Dusky Mauve.  It also has similar fine shimmer but it's fine enough that the cloudyness covered it.  I used 2 coats of Ghostlike Charms and I liked it.  But I must say I loved when I put 2 coats over OPI's My Pointe Exactly.  I thought this sheer gray would go perfectly with this.  And you know what?  It did.  In person I could not stop looking at it.  Although if I wear that combo again I either need to buff my nails or do another coat of the OPI(which I don't want to do because that takes at least 4 coats for full opacity).  My nails kinda made the manicure a little less stunning because the undies were so sheer and you could sort of see the yellow stains on my nails... :S

If you would like a bottle of this you can head over to LynBDesigns Etsy shop.  Polishes retail from between $8-$10USD.

OPI Changing of the Garnet: Well this post got very dark, very fast.

So if there is one thing you should take away from my love of polish is that I LOVE red polishes.  If there ever came a day when someone said "From tomorrow on you can only wear ONE colour of nail polish for the rest of your life.  It can be any shade or finish of that colour.  But if you wear any other colour you have to watch everyone else in the world die a horrible death and you will be the only survivor.   Well you and your deep self loathing and the distant memory of a million screaming people desperately trying to cling to what life they had left.  Not only that but death himself will laugh in your face.  Forcing you, and you alone to walk the earth till the end of time.  You body may be decrepit and shattered by the end but you will still linger on.  So.  What colour do you choose?" I would say red.

Changing of the Garnet is first off an oldie.  It's from OPI's 2002 European collection.  It's a garnet red(I see what you did there OPI), made up of red and copper shimmer.  This was 2 easy coats despite it being old.  It smelt like what I assume is Satan's morning breath after a night on the town.  Kleancolor smells better.  I only swatched this and I felt ill.

Over all this is a really nice red, and even though I LOVE reds this is probably one of my least favourites.  And just and FYI when it comes to reds I pretty much like them all in general so long as they don't lean orange.  So least favourite red does not mean I hate it.  When I find the right time to wear it I will show you my fav! I wont tell you what it is it's Chanel Malice.

So tell me guys if you had to only wear ONE colour of polish for the rest of your life.  It can be any shade or finish(glitter counts too but if most be predominantly your colour of choice).  What colour do you choose?

Ps. My next post will be more fun.  Maybe.

ETA: As of now.  Approximately an hour and a half after posting this, this post has received over 600 hits and it's just rising!  HOW?  WHY?   The only thing I know is most of the hits are from America.

ETA 2: Just over 12 hours later and it's almost at 4000 hits.  WHAT IS THIS SORCERY???

OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow Suede

I really love having suede polishes in almost every colour.  When I have 20 minutes to get out the door, and I have naked nails, they are there for me.  And they look great if if you choose to wear top coat or not.

Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow Suede is a dark green suede(obviously).  Packed with silver micro shimmer.  I'm almost positive this was 2 coats(These photos were taken a while ago).  And the formula was fantastic.  No cleanup needed!  It didn't dry too fast and start getting all clumpy or streaky and it didn't dry to slow.

Now this is from the fall 2010 line and is currently discontinued.  But this along with all the other OPI suede polishes I have were purchased relatively recently in stores. I found this in Ricky's in NYC.  I have no clue if Ricky's is only in NYC or is an American-wide thing.  In general I see these all the time in beauty supply stores.

Do you guys like suede polishes?

World AIDS Day

So today I have 2 manicures for you guys!  Both of these are in support of World AIDS Day(December 1st).  The first one I wore on this year on World AIDS Day and the second one I wore exactly a year ago on World AIDS Day 2011.

Just a little bit of info first. HIV(human immunodeficiency virus) is the virus that causes AIDS(Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). So you can be HIV positive and not have AIDS. HIV turn into AIDS when a person who has HIV's T cell(Type of white blood cell) count drops below a certain number. Both of these viruses damage the immune system making a person at risk for infections and illnesses. It can be transmitted through sexual contact, bodily fluids such as blood and can be passed on from mother to child.

I think it's important that people are aware that HIV/AIDS is not a gay disease.  Over the years millions have died from it. It doesn't matter if you are straight, gay, young, old, man, or woman if you don't take precautions you could be putting you at risk.  Remember while progress is being made there is no cure yet.  Be smart and wrap up your junk.  And I guess while we're on the topic, if you must do drugs, don't share needles.  Play safe guys.

Now the nails. This year I used CND's Crimson Uprising. A beautiful red wine colour with fine gold glitter(that I couldn't pick up on camera). It went on in 2 easy coats but drying time was a nightmare!  Then I added two pieces of striping tape going one way and one going the other.  Then for the accent nail I used Claire's Snowball and China Glaze's White Ice.  Finally I used Crimson Uprising for the red ribbon.

I'll be honest with you.  Lifestyles is good.  But Crown and Kimono condoms are where it's at.

The manicure is from 2011.  Before I even started blogging.  I used OPI Smitten With Mittens for all the red and OPI Happy Anniversary as the accent nail.  Look at how far I've come :P

Ps.  Don't forget our Butter London Christmas Giveaway ends in a week!

Green.

Wow November is already here!  Soon it will be Christmas!  How was everyone's Halloween? I drank and did Karaoke!  If that's not what you call a fun night...then chances are you were doing something else. Speaking of Halloween I actually still have a bunch of Halloween polishes that I never had time to swatch that I'll post in the next few weeks because I could care less that Halloween is over.

I am a rebel blogger.

Here is a polish I used in my Halloween manicure yesterday.  Essie's Sew Psyched is a dusty khaki green that is packed with really fine micro-shimmer that can really only be seen under direct light.  In the photos that was 3 coats.  I love this colour(although I admit it's not for everyone).  My only problem with it is I wish it would even out a bit better.
