Colour me unimpressed

Today I just have a simple swatch for you. It's something I have owned for years and have worn before, but have never swatched. This is Milani Chocolate Sprinkles, which came out way back in 2012 and was a CVS exclusive.

Chocolate sprinkles is a rich dark chocolate brown, with golden shimmer and flashes of green and pink. And application was 3 coats(but you could get away with 2) and the formula is super easy to work with. Now don't get me wrong this is a nice polish, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I think I fell for the polish because it photographs so well(I would love it if it looked like my photo). I never even saw it in person before receiving it, I just asked my mother to pick it up when she was in the States. When I finally put it on my nails it all just kind of fell flat. It's so much more lively in photographs.

It's rare that I hate a polish, so even ones I don't love get used up. A polish like this would fall under the "I have no idea what polish to wear" and the "I need something nice, and non offensive" polish.

Any polish(or makeup in general) you fell for that then left you unimpressed?

OPI German-icure: Blame tumblr

I was actually going to do this post a few days ago but right as I was about to start it I decided to take a look on tumblr.  Then over the next two hours I was lured into tumblrs, seductive, fandom folds.  Upon my my harrowing escape from the Tom Cumberbatch's and the Supernatural Thor's, I briefly did attempt to make a post, but my photo editing program was having none of it.  Today after restarting my laptop and staying away from tumblr I am finally here.  Do not fear.

OPI's German-icure is from OPI's fall 2012 collection.  It's a shimmery, vampy red, with brown undertones, and even a slight gold shift in the shimmer.  It was 2 easy coats.

This is one of my many go to colours.  I don't actually have a specific polish that I go to I have a colour.  I love a good vampy red.  I am that person who normally wont buy two polishes if they look remotely close.  Vampy reds are my weakness.  I will buy them all.

Do you have a go to polish or colour?  Do you use tumblr?  Isn't it magical?

Nubar Jewel - My very first holo!

Just a quick post today,  First off let me start with a giant huzzah!  Our tumblr passed 1000 followers!  Now onto the polish :)

This is actually my very first I guess you would call proper holo!  I bought it 2 years ago off of Amazon for around half the original price.  Finally about a week or so ago I wore it for the first time. I don't know why I waited so long!

Jewle is a brown scattered holo, that flashes a sort of pinkish hue.  I used 3 coats but you can easily get away with 2.  The finish is a bit gritty when it dries but a top coat eliminates most of it.  You can always add another thin layer if it's not perfect.  You can easily find this still on Amazon.com/co.uk.  If you are in America you can get it off Nubar's website(no international shipping).

Cult Nails - Power Thief: I really wanted to do nail art

But I ended up using this instead.  Do you ever have those days where you're like "I really want to do x to my nails."  Then as you are looking through your stash you get drawn to the complete opposite?  That's what happened to me.  I really wanted to do some nail are.  I really didn't have anything in mind I just knew I wanted to do art.  But for some reason I kept picking up nudes and neutrals.  And not wanting to put art on them :P

I ended up picking up Cult Nails Power Thief originally from their Super Powers collection.  It's a milk chocolate brown.  It looks like chocolate milk with silver flecks in in.  I only had to us 2 coats, but I noticed it did start getting a bit gloopy as I went through the manicure.  Despite this minor problem I really like this colour.  It's safe for work but the flecks add a little something to it.

Anyways I shall have some nail art this weekend!  Huzzah!  And maybe I'll show you guys a pair of sparkly, stud covered sneakers I bought :P

Jessica: Glitterati - I don't know! It's weird!

Glitterati is from Jessica's 2012 Holiday Glamourama collection.  Now this is a very strange glitter imo.  I like it but I'm not sure it screams Holiday for one.  Also it's just weird.   When you look at it in the bottle it looks brown or orange, with tiny bits of blue glitter.  Then on an angle there's a colour shift to green.  It's kind of like the glitter version of Nubar 2010...But it's not.  I feel like you wont understand unless you own it, or you came over and looked at my hands(don't).  I used two coats and it was a bit on the thick side.  But thinner will fix that!  And finally as you can see I layered this over black.  On it's own it looks horrible.  Just dreadful.

All in ll though I really like it.  For a glitter it isn't too in your face and yet it is still very noticeable!

It reminds me of fallen leaves, that then turned radioactive.  You know what I mean right?

OPI: Holiday Glow (REMIX!!!)

Well not a remix.  More like a re-swatch.  This was actually one of my first post almost a year ago.  And I decided I wanted to re-swatch it!

Holiday Glow is from the 2009 Holiday Wishes collection.  It's discontinued but I see it all the time still.  Especially at beauty supply stores.  Swatching it again I realize that this is a brownish purple. Filled with gold and I want to say copper glitter.  It applied in 3 coats and the formula was super easy to use.  Photos were taken after no cleanup.

I don't know what it is but last time I swatched it I didn't love it.  This time I do! :) And maybe it's because I'm wearing it now but I think something called Holiday Glow is perfect for leading up to Christmas. Everything kind of has that Holiday Glow to it.  People, houses, stores.  It's everywhere! It's like herpes. I can ruin any post :P

WOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH: Doctor Who Nails Part 1200

Anyways I did a show this weekend.  It was another one of those fan fiction shows (This one was recorded so I'll see if I can post it).  It was great fun yet again.  But this time for once I understood the fandom!

Anyways quick story.  Some man who was in his 50's tried to hit on me.  First off I should mention he was a hard 50.  I don't mind 50 year olds.  Most men in their 20's stink.  But that's another post.   He kept chasing me around and coming VERY close (The kind of close where when you move away they get closer).  He finished his attempts of getting inside my TARDIS by saying "I feel like I'm at a party surrounded by Hollywood stars".  I responded with "Well I wouldn't go that far".  To which he said in the creepiest voice "Yet...You could be a star".  Agfsiayudhkjs. And in the words of Gary Barlow "I don’t know what’s offended me more, what you said or the fag ash breath!"

That being said a couple people asked for my autograph after the show.  He was not one of those people.

Anyways onto the nails.  On my right hand I did galaxy nails.  But they looked almost identical to the galaxy nails I did last time so I didn't bother photographing them.  My left hand was my doctor hand!  My thumb said Bad Wolf (as you can probably read), my pinky was two hearts (The Doctor has two hearts), My Ninth Doctor index finger and Eleventh Doctor ring finger were inspired by these minimalist Doctor Who posters.  If you hadn't figured it out it's their jackets.  Finally my middle finger is the Tenth Doctor wearing 3D glasses.

It's funny because my index finger was actually the hardest to do.  At first the blue was too dark, and then his shirt was totally off, or I tried adjusting it so much his jacket looked almost closed.  I finally got it right on the fourth try after using tape.

I LOVE this manicure.  Probably one of my favourite pieces of nail art I've done.

Brrrrraaaaiiinnnsss! Zombie Nails: Pt 1

So I did these nails for a contest over at The Polished Zombie's 200 reader giveaways.  I used mainly OPI's polishes on my nails along with Cult Nails Quench and Essie's Fishnet stockings. Oh and false nails that I roughed up.  And as you can see I didn't just stop at nails.  I figured I might as well go all out (well worth the hour I had all this on for).  Win or lose that gash is pretty badass. I would write more but I'm tired.  Enjoy!

ETA now that I'm a tad less tired: There is acrylic paint under the false nails make the nails look darker(they were white to begin with).  Then on top of the nails I sponged on OPI's Onyx, Over The Taupe and Suzi Loves Cowboys.  And around my cuticles and in the broken bits of nails I have Cult nails Quench and Essie's fishnet stockings.

That sounds like a yummy snack.

So since I have had my wisdom teeth pulled last Tuesday I have yet to paint my nails again.  My past couple of posts were done before last Tuesday.  I'll probably do something tomorrow because I've been naked for far too long now.

But until then I thought now would be the perfect time to share some nails I did last year for Halloween.  This was done right around the time I started getting into nails and trying my hand at nail art.  This was also a few months before I started this blog.

I LOVED how these turned out when I did them.  And to this day I still do.  I'm not 100% sure what I used though.  I know I started with Essie's Sew Psyched as a base.  Then I'm pretty sure I sponged on OPI's Suzie Loves Cowboys and Royal Rajah Ruby(I know I used this for sure) to give it that old blood look.  Finally I used a straw and splattered on Essie's Fishnet Stocking to look like fresh blood splatter.

Despite the fact that these are a bit old they are sill some of my favourite nails I have done to date.  I especially like how the right hand turned out!

China Glaze Hue Thrill Me: Why Have I Never Given You A Second Look? I'm So Sorry.+ Giveaway winner!

2) Sit your bums down people.  I'm about to tell you about an amazing and unique polish.

So first off I had no idea when this polish was from.  Year or collection wise.  So I had to do a bit of internet searching.  Turns out it's originally from China Glaze's Mad About Hues collection from 2000.

I am now going to attempt to describe this colours.  Under normal everyday light it looks like the first picture or the second.  Dusty brown-ish purple with pink shimmer(You can see the purple better in real life).  Or just kind of a nude-ish brown.  But then under the flash and really bright light it leans toward a dusty pink full of shimmer.  0_o.  And i went on in 2 flawless coats.

My first thought was "This is like SFW with a bit of flair".  I love, love, love it.  It's for those days when you maybe want to be more neutral and classy but still have a little pow.  I've had this for a while but only recently wore it because I am silly.  For the record I reel like you actually need to see this in person to fully understand how pretty it is.

3) I brushed by teeth with my electric toothbrush today for the first time.  My mouth has never felt this clean :D

OPI German-icure: *Swoon*

So this is the polish I got from Robyn on my Birthday!  Yay!  I LOVE this colour.  Give me vampy and I'm all over it like a couple who takes PDA too far.

Germani-cure is a brownish red shimmer.  Depending on the lighting it can look more of one then the other.  It went on in 3 easy coats.  Although I'm sure I could have gotten away with 2.  Formula was perfection.  While the flash makes it all pretty and shows off the shimmer, in most lighting it's deeper and darker, then in the sun or under flash.  But let me just say either way this is a stunner.

This is for sure going in my list of favorites.  It reminds me a lot of OPI's Royal Rajah Ruby(another fav).  They aren't exactly the same.  They are more like cousins.

If you like vampy shades I suggest you get this right NOW (after you finish reading this and look at the pictures).

Have you left to go buy yourself a bottle yet?  GO!  (Unless you own it)

Sally Hanson's Gray Area: Y U Bubble?

Sally Hanson's Gray area is a gray cream with brown and purple undertones.  For these photos I used 2 coats.  And the formula was pretty good!

My problem with it was when I woke up the next morning it had bubbled.  You can actually kind of see it starting on the ring finger in the photos.  Now maybe it was my fault.  Maybe I layered the coats on too thick.  I'll give this polish another shot though.  It's such a pretty and chic fall colour!

I should also mention I can't stand the bottle.  You wipe off the brush, start doing your nails, and boom, an avalanche of polish that had been on the length of the brush. Longer doesn't mean better...if you know what I mean. (Get your face out of the gutter).

OPI - Suzi Loves Cowboys

Ok I love, love, love this polish and all it's chocolaty goodness.  Suzi loves cowboys is a brown cream.  It reminds me of amazing milk chocolate.  Application was amazingly easy.  It evened itself out with no problems at all and I used 3 coats.  It was super shiny even without a top coat.

Gah! I love colours likes this on my skin tone.  I would definitely recommend this polish to people.  Especially if you have a warmer skin tone.
