Roses are red, violets are blue. This post is about roses.

Yet again I wake up with make-up still on and the clothing I wore the night before. I have a tendency of getting into bed and thinking "I'll just lie here for a few minutes, and then get up and change. And I always pass out within 30 seconds and wake up hours late feeling sticky. Blah. But my lipstick is still in place!

So I did a show last night and wanted to keep my nails simple, but still do a bit of art, so this is what i cam up with. This is Chanel Malice with Sinful Colors Gold Medal. And I used my Konad stamping plate in m65 on my index finger. I adore how this turned out. It's simple, but elegant, and not in your face. It also helps that Malice is one of my all time favourite polishes! It's sexy, vampy and has a formula like Velveeta, smooth and full of chemicals.

How does one dress up Chanel Malice?

By doing as little as possible to it.

First of all I wore these out for a "classy" night of drinking.  A "classy" night where I ended up forgetting my wallet at home.  But I'm lucky my friends gave me some moneyz, and since my birthday was a few days before I got birthday drinks!  Yay!

I only needed 2 coats of this, blackened, glow from within red.  Then I just added some gold square studs from the Born Pretty Store.  Enough to add a little something but not enough to take away from the polish.  Out of all the polishes I own this is one of my all time favourites!  I actually have a few colours that are similar to it but I love blackened reds.  Red polish is as a whole is just sexy as hell.

Sadly if you would like a bottle of this it was limited edition.  Maybe I'll show you some alternatives one day!

Ps. Sorry my pics aren't the best.  But I was in a rush to take them.  One of the reasons I forgot my wallet actually.

Pps. Just under 24hours left to enter our giveaway!

Ppps.  I was going to say this in the comments of the Dalek post but I figure most people wouldn't see this but THANK YOU FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES!

Skull and Crossbones + Black Pearl. This could be a Pirates Of The Caribbean post!

Good news everyone.  I have finally (sort of) figured out my eyebrows!  It's taken me long enough :P  I always (sort of) kept them in check, but as of recently I was done with them trying to amalgamate.  And got them so MUCH more under control.  Next up big girl make up!  It's funny because I can barely do a natural look but if you want me to look like my face was slashed open, I can do that!

Anyways on the the reviews.  First are the born pretty, gold skull, nail art decorations I got.  I kinda love these.  They look ridiculously cool and they are super easy to use.  While you can wear them horizontally across the nail like you would those bows you've probably all seen.  I liked wearing it over my entire nail.  It reminded me of a pirate flag.  Because I didn't wear them out I only placed them on top of the wet polish, and then took it off soon after.  Had I been going out I would have used nail glue.  As you can see in my last photo the back of the skull isn't filled in, so there is less surface area for it to stick.  So I for sure would have gone for something more heavy duty.

Next is Chanel Black Pearl on it's own.  This was the first Chanel polish I ever bought.  Although I have never shown it on the blog, I have worn it multiple times before.  Black Pearl is a charcoal gray, packed with green shimmer.  Don't let these pictures scare you.  This polish is NOT streaky in real life.  It looks more like the last few photos with the skulls almost all the time.  This reminded me of really murky, creepy, stormy water.  So I thought this would be perfect with a skull!

If you would like the Chanel polish, it is part of their core line.  It retails for around $27USD.  You can find the skulls over at the Born Pretty Store.  They retail 2 skulls for $0.99USD(but I do wish they came in a pack with maybe 10), and come in gold or silver.  If you would like these skulls or anything else from the Born Pretty Store you can also use our discount code EAL91 and get 10% off whatever you buy!

✩Classy✩ Fun Nails For A Not So ✩Classy✩ Evening :D

Tonight I'm dressing like a high class lady of the night all pretty for a good friends birthday!  Because if you're gonna be smashing back fancy beers you might as well look somewhat presentable.

I decided I wanted to do something with striping tape.  I already did a mani with it where I put the tape down, painted it, then removed it.  It was ok I guess.  But this time I wanted to actually use the tape in the manicure.  Originally I wanted to do this with red, but for some reason I just couldn't come up with a combo I was happy with.  So I went with blue.

First I did 2-3 coat of Ruby kissed Blue My Mind (Ba dum chhh...) depending on the finger, then I did a coat of Essie's Smooth Sailing starting half way up the nail-ish.  Next I used Chanel Graphite and did the tips the size I would usually for plain french tips.  Maybe a tiny bit bigger.  Finally after top coat I waited for it to dry a bit and then I placed the tape across and sealed it in with another layer of top coat.

This was super easy.  You can easily freehand each colour because the tape hides your flaws!

Yup I'm going to be the classiest dame at the ball.

The Frog Prince Pt. 2

One fine eve a young princess put on her heels and glittery dress, and went out to take a walk by herself in NYC; and when she came across a bench, she sat down to rest a while. Now she had a golden Metropass in her hand, which was her favourite plaything. She was always tossing it up into the air, and catching it again. Because why not?

After a time she threw it up so high it fell; and it blew away, until it fell down into the sewer. The princess looked in after her pass, but it was very deep. She began to weep, and said, 'Nooooo how the fuck am I going to get home?'

Whilst she was weeping, a frog put its head out of the sewer, and said, 'What's wrong?'.

'Alas!' said she, 'what can you do for me, you nasty frog? My Metropass is gone.'

The frog said, 'Honey, no. I am not in the mood.  So get your face together and listen. If you promise me you'll get me a fresh mixed salad, take me to the Roseland Ballroom, and stop weeping because it makes you look like you're pooping.  I'll get your pass.'

She thought for a moment.

'Sure why not.  This is only the 2th weirdest thing that happened to me this week' She said

The frog jumped back into the sewer.  Moments later her came back with the Princesses pass, and tossed it to her.

'Put me in your purse.' The frog said. 'Wait! I see this is a Chanel knock off. Carry me.'

With that they went to the nearest establishment and bought a salad for the frog.  Which the princess hand fed on the way to the theatre.

'Take me to the stage door please' said the frog.  He hopped out of her hands at the stage door and said 'Wait here' and entered the theatre. 2 minutes later a chiseled, glittering, demigod appeared out of the stage door wearing nothing more than a glittery g-string. 'And now in return for you helping me to the theatre, here are some tickets for Broadway Bares XXII.  I'm in it!'

'But wait!  Were you- how were yo- you were just a frog!' said the princess.

'Oh that was a costume.  Do you know how good Spider Man the musical's costume designers are?  They are that good. I honestly don't know how they do it. Anyways tell me you'll come to the show.'

'Of course I will.  Could I bring my friends?' Asked the princess.

'Of course! The more the merrier! Just promise me one more thing...bring all your ones.  At the end of the show you can stuff it down my G-string!' He exclaimed.

They both threw their hands up in jubilation. Because that's the best way to end a story.

The End.

Anyways these are the nails I actually did for Broadway Bares when we were in NYC.  A frog prince on my left hand and the prince in human and nearly naked form on my other hand.

I used China Glaze's Glittering Garland, and acrylic paint. For the crown I just used micro beads and a single rhinestone.

Close up on frog and crown.  I really love how the crown turned out.  Lasted 4 days!
I would tell people when you gave the frog a kiss he would turn into this.  A n almost naked man :D That's my kind of fairy tale!
I used Chanel Graphite and on the accent nails I used a Nailene french manicyre polish, OPI's Over The Taupe and OPI's Absolutely Alice!

George and myself will probably each make a NYC trip post at some point this week and show you guys our hauls!

Also one more thing. I have a new camera and these were some of the first photos I took of my nails with them.  I'm still getting used to it.  But from now on all my pics will be somewhat passable.

Ps. Broadway Bares was AMAZING.  Fairy tales will never be the same again.  And I'm happy about that!

OPI Just Spotted The Lizard!!!

Well here it is folks. Tah-dah!

This was pretty much impossible to capture how it looked in person.  So most of these shots are underwater.

Just Spotted The Lizard is a gold/green duochrome shimmer (But you probably already knew that).  Application was good and I used 2 coats for this. The only real negative is in person it's a tad brush stroke-y.

And this post wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention Chanel's Peridot.  Apparently they are very, VERY close.  Pretty much dupes.  So if you really wanted Peridot but didn't want to shell out the cash for it, or you missed it, or you spent the money on it, only to make it part of your nail blog's giveaway.  I would say get this... And wear it underwater for maximum fun.

 Under
 The
 Sea.
 Actually under plain tap water.
This is probably how it looks most of the time in normal indoor lighting.
ETA: I was looking at my hands today in different lighting.  IRL this polish is slightly more intense than the photo above.  And slightly less intense with the underwater pictures. Flash brings the shimmer out.
Just Spotted The Lizard... On flash!
I only have a bottle shot to compare.  As the Chanel bottle is for our giveaway.  They honestly look the same in the bottle.  The only difference is the OPI looks more duochrome-y due to the shape of the bottle.

Speaking of Chanel don't forget our giveaway there's less than a day left to enter!!!
And we just passed 400 followers!!! THANKS EVERYONE!!! - Kas & George

Battle of the Graphite dupes... Can you tell them apart?

Today I have a post I was hoping I'd be able to do at some point.. Showing off the two much-touted Graphite dupes together at last.  You know which two I mean:  OPI Number One Nemesis and Jessica Smoky Feather.  I've seen a lot of posts comparing one with Graphite(which Kas owns but I don't), so we know how they stack up in that regard, but what we DON'T know is how they stack up against one another.  So that's what today is about!

Like I tweeted last night, from the bottles alone, they're not dupes.  And on the nail, I think that's also true, but they are close.  I think 99% of you would probably be happy with owning one or the other.  I know which one I prefer.

So, first some bottle shots:

 (artificial light)
 (sunlight)

Okay, here we go!  So, as is the way with posts like these, I am wearing the Jessica on two fingers and the OPI on the other two.

There are two coats of each, though one of them needs a third.  One is sparklier, one is more foil-y. One is bluer, one is greener.

Can you tell which polish is which?  See if you're right after the jump.

St Patty's Day Guinness can mani

This is a bit late... oh well.

I everyone had a fun (and safe) night.  I know I did :)  It was full of booze, creepy men (including one who actually looked like a rat), and late night shenanigoats with the girls and the boy.  Followed by waking up late and going on a 2 hour walk because it was so nice outside!

Anyhoo most of my nails were pretty much just quick nail art.  But on 2 fingers on each hand I used Guinness cans. How did I do this? 1) Get case of Guinness 2)Drink them all 3)Save some and use it in Chocolate Guinness ice cream 4) Carefully cuts ends off of can 5) Cut can down the middle so you can open it up into a sheet 6) Cut out parts of the can you want to use 7)File them down so they fit the way you want them to (and so they aren't sharp) 8) Use the edge of a table and bend them so they fit to the nail better 9) Cover your nail in a couple layers of polish to protect it 9) Glue them down with nail glue 10) Finish with topcoat so it doesn't get scratched up.

And to answer a few questions before they are even asked 1) No they were not sharp and 2) Removal was easy. One actually fell off.   And the rest I soaked in pure acetone to loosen them and peel them off.  Getting the remaining glue of my nail was easier than removing glitter.

Left Hand: G and N from Guinness can.  And ignore my horrific broccoli floret 4 leaf clover.

Right Hand: 2 more can pieces.

 What I used:
Guinness can (I forgot to take a picture of everything else), Essie's Pretty Edgy, and Fishnet Stockings, OPI Black Onyx, Chanel Graphite, China Glaze Medallion, Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure, Claire's Snow and a bunch of paint.

Hahaha I was trying to label Orange in this post and it kept changing it to Jason Orange... I almost left it.

Chanel Quartz swatches

So I work in a mall, in a department store, in the cosmetics dept.  Right next to a Chanel counter.  TALK ABOUT TEMPTATION.  Basically I find about 10 excuses a day to wander over and ogle the pretty polishes.

Enter Chanel Quartz.  I really like this one, and I didn't think I would!  But then I put it on and ohhhh, it's so beautiful!  My theory is that this polish is what China Glaze WANTED Hook and Line from the Hunger Games collection to be.  It has that same grey cast and finish, but without most of the horrible brushstrokes.  And the shimmer.... Oh, the shimmer.  It's blue and purple and the neat thing is that it reflects any nearby bright colours so it looks different all the time.  You'll notice that in some photos because my bedroom is bright green.  I also tried it by blue walls and had the same thing happen, so it really is a chameleon.

The shimmer doesn't show well on camera either, but let me just say:  THIS ONE COMES ALIVE OUTSIDE.  It is absolutely amazing.  Stunning.  If you can get your hands on this one, I say do it.

Let's let the pictures do the talking....
