Lovely FIngers: Les Misérables Nails

So yesterday I went with my friend Eliza to see Les Misérables(And I ate popcorn for the first time since I had my wisdom teeth removed! Huzzah!).  I've never read the book or actually seen the musical live but I've know the music and story for a while as I fancy musicals.  As does Eliza.  But Les Mis for her is the bees knees of musicals.  Long story story overall it was great and you should all go see it.  Unless you don't want to sit through an almost 3 hour movie.  Or a musical.  Chances are if you hate both these things you will want to steer clear of this.

For my nails I decided to sponge the french flag and do red flag accent nails.  I used Claire's Snowball, OPI's Dating a Royal and Essie's Fishnet Stockings. I loved how it came out looking gritty.  I am so sorry if it's a bit messy(especially the right hand).  I find red polishes to be a pain to clean up but Fishnet Stocking is the Devil.

Ps.  Unless you know your stuff about movie musicals/musicals you probably wont understand this but wouldn't it be horrific if Adam Shankman directed  Les Mis?

Ignore the mess around my cuticles on my right hand.  But I really loved how the sponging turned out.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Now let's all take a moment to remember...

Just how adorable my Christmas nails were last year!

Ps.  I hope Santa brought what you wished for!  If not it's probably because you're a bad person.  I'm just kidding!  It's because he's not real. :D

Pps.  While were on the topic did you guys get anything interesting for Christmas?

Candy Cane Nails: A Journey of One Girls Love Affair With Striping Tape

Ooops so this was already published before but there was nothing in it.  But not to fret!  Now there is!

Anyways the lovely Ladies over at Show Me Your Topcoats are doing a Christmas challenge that happens once every other day until Christmas.   Now I'm participating in this like  <I then made a Lindsay Lohan joke that was really bad and made me feel sorry for her>.  I'll do the challenge when I can.

Anyway today's challenge was Candy Canes!  I've been wanting to do this for a while now so I jumped at it.  I did plain and red and white candy canes using Claire's Snowball and Fright Nights Claw Polish in Voodoo.  I used a combination of striping tape and, scotch tape for the lines.  I also made them uneven on purpose.  You know those candy canes that have some stripes larger than others.  I love how those looks!

I would add the InLinkz but it completely messes with the blog layout :(

Ps.  I don't really like candy canes.
Pps. All those candy canes that are in the photos were free.  You know take one from the basket.  I took 3 handfulls.  Merry Christmas suckers!
Ppps. I give them away when I see people.  See I'm only mildly horrible.

World AIDS Day

So today I have 2 manicures for you guys!  Both of these are in support of World AIDS Day(December 1st).  The first one I wore on this year on World AIDS Day and the second one I wore exactly a year ago on World AIDS Day 2011.

Just a little bit of info first. HIV(human immunodeficiency virus) is the virus that causes AIDS(Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). So you can be HIV positive and not have AIDS. HIV turn into AIDS when a person who has HIV's T cell(Type of white blood cell) count drops below a certain number. Both of these viruses damage the immune system making a person at risk for infections and illnesses. It can be transmitted through sexual contact, bodily fluids such as blood and can be passed on from mother to child.

I think it's important that people are aware that HIV/AIDS is not a gay disease.  Over the years millions have died from it. It doesn't matter if you are straight, gay, young, old, man, or woman if you don't take precautions you could be putting you at risk.  Remember while progress is being made there is no cure yet.  Be smart and wrap up your junk.  And I guess while we're on the topic, if you must do drugs, don't share needles.  Play safe guys.

Now the nails. This year I used CND's Crimson Uprising. A beautiful red wine colour with fine gold glitter(that I couldn't pick up on camera). It went on in 2 easy coats but drying time was a nightmare!  Then I added two pieces of striping tape going one way and one going the other.  Then for the accent nail I used Claire's Snowball and China Glaze's White Ice.  Finally I used Crimson Uprising for the red ribbon.

I'll be honest with you.  Lifestyles is good.  But Crown and Kimono condoms are where it's at.

The manicure is from 2011.  Before I even started blogging.  I used OPI Smitten With Mittens for all the red and OPI Happy Anniversary as the accent nail.  Look at how far I've come :P

Ps.  Don't forget our Butter London Christmas Giveaway ends in a week!

Election Day!

First off I hope everyone who could vote today voted.  I didn't because I can't vote.  And not because I'm a criminal.  I'm just not American. As the most powerful nation in the world, do it for everyone. Now I'm not going to say who I would vote for had I been American but I will tell you this.  I would have voted for President Barack Obama.  I would also like Vice President Biden to become my grandfather,  so one day if I get married he will do a speech.  It would be magical.

Now I love American politics.  It is so interesting.  I feel like a giddy schoolgirl when things like debates come one.  Myself and one of my best friends text each other constantly during these.  That's what I call a night in(Seriously, I love it).  I also enjoy light chit chat with headline readers.  People who love taking about the election  but you soon realize they never got much father than the headline.  The reality is they have no real concept or understanding of half the things that fall out of their mouths.

So for my nails I knew from the start there was going to be no stars.  I would have loved to have some but that would have meant free handing them (HA!).  85% of this manicure was made using OPI's Blue My Mind, Fright Night Claw Polish Voodoo and Claire's Snowball.  The white dots, and the blue and white in The Presidents campaign logo are all paint.  To get all my lines straight I used striping tape(not bad eh?)

Anyways I've had 3 hours of sleep.  I'm going to go do a show now.

Ps. GO VOTE!

ETA: Thank You America!!! And of course Well Done President Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH: Doctor Who Nails Part 1200

Anyways I did a show this weekend.  It was another one of those fan fiction shows (This one was recorded so I'll see if I can post it).  It was great fun yet again.  But this time for once I understood the fandom!

Anyways quick story.  Some man who was in his 50's tried to hit on me.  First off I should mention he was a hard 50.  I don't mind 50 year olds.  Most men in their 20's stink.  But that's another post.   He kept chasing me around and coming VERY close (The kind of close where when you move away they get closer).  He finished his attempts of getting inside my TARDIS by saying "I feel like I'm at a party surrounded by Hollywood stars".  I responded with "Well I wouldn't go that far".  To which he said in the creepiest voice "Yet...You could be a star".  Agfsiayudhkjs. And in the words of Gary Barlow "I don’t know what’s offended me more, what you said or the fag ash breath!"

That being said a couple people asked for my autograph after the show.  He was not one of those people.

Anyways onto the nails.  On my right hand I did galaxy nails.  But they looked almost identical to the galaxy nails I did last time so I didn't bother photographing them.  My left hand was my doctor hand!  My thumb said Bad Wolf (as you can probably read), my pinky was two hearts (The Doctor has two hearts), My Ninth Doctor index finger and Eleventh Doctor ring finger were inspired by these minimalist Doctor Who posters.  If you hadn't figured it out it's their jackets.  Finally my middle finger is the Tenth Doctor wearing 3D glasses.

It's funny because my index finger was actually the hardest to do.  At first the blue was too dark, and then his shirt was totally off, or I tried adjusting it so much his jacket looked almost closed.  I finally got it right on the fourth try after using tape.

I LOVE this manicure.  Probably one of my favourite pieces of nail art I've done.

My middle finger looks best here.  You can see the glasses properly.

(L-R) OPI Black Only, Nailene French Manicure, Ruby Kisses Blue My Mind, Milani Neon Dude Blue, Essie's Fishnet Stockings, OPI's Suzi Loves Cowboys & Over The Taupe, Claire's Snowball and finally acrylic paint.
"I am the TARDIS...The sexy TARDIS!"

Who's your Doctor?  Mine's Nine, but I do love me some Ten.

Eye See Slime!

First off(and most importantly) let me say to everyone being affected by hurricane Sandy I hope you are all keeping safe!  So far where I am it has just been overly shitty weather.

Next up I did a show the other day and of course my nails were Halloween themed.  Since there's only a few days left for till Halloween I want to get all my Halloween nails out of my system!

So on my left hand I did blood shot eyes(note how they are actually bloodshot) to get that bloodshot look I sponged on Cult Nails Quench after having dipped a makeup sponge in acetone.  I don't know what but it always kind of irks me when I see blood shot eyes that are totally white. I'm picky.  Then on my right hand I just did some slime over black.  Quick and easy.

I really liked how these turned out.  Especially the eyes!

Does anyone here also do completely different manicures on each hand sometimes?

(L-R) On my left hand I used Claire's Snowball, Cult Nails Quench, and acrylic paint.  Then for the right hand I used Orly Iron Butterfly and acrylic paint.

Vampire Nails: Part 2

So since I had the false fang nails on I decided I need to at least use them more than once.  So here is my second fang mani!  It's the classic blood dripping down from the fangs, and puncture wounds!

I have since had to take the polish off as I have a show today and I thought they were a tad distracting.  I had one more manicure that would have worked with the fangs but I can do it without it.

I have a few more fake nail manicures planned.  Fingers crossed that they work out :P They are pretty amazing these ideas.

For the puncture wounds I did 2 dots and then sponged different shades of red around them.

Speaking of vampires, do you guys know any good vampire fiction books that aren't the obvious ones?  I would love to read some.  And no Twilight.  I don't need that fan fiction jabber.

Ripping Out My Wisdom One Tooth At A Time

So I'm getting all four of my wisdom teeth pulled today!  Huzzah!  While I'm not looking forward to the next few days I'm excited because, if it means no more constant pain I'm all in!

Anyways I couldn't decided what I wanted to do so both my hands are worlds apart (and I don't care).

I guess my right hand is Halloween/teeth themed.  Each finger was originally going to be a bloody mouth.  But after I did the splatter I decided to leave it as it is.  They still kinda look like individual bloody teeth right?  It also doubles as general murder blood splatter. Double duty nails!  Also after I did the blood splatter (which as you guessed is a tad messy) I looked at my thumb and there was a smiley face on it.  Cool, or creepy?

Next up on my left hand I have my Take That nails.  Each nail represents a different song in some shape or form(Lyrics, music videos, tours). The songs are (T-P) Fun Times, Blurred Vision, Crossing, Innuendo, Higher Than Me. I really liked this mani so I had to post three photos of it.  Well that's sort of a lie.  I think the nails are ok.  The reason I posted it three times was for the surprise giveaway so you can see some of the nails better.  First off all the song titles I listed aren't real. I made them up.  If someone can tell me the real songs in the comment section you'll get your choice of any polish off ninja polish dot com. This is open internationally for the most part.  You know minus places that have rules against shipping polish.  Finally it closes at eleven fifty nine eastern standard time on Thursday night.

So I'll see you guys in a couple days!  Wish me luck!

Jubilee Nails

I have been meaning to post these for a few days now but alas I've either been too busy or exhausted. I used a whole slew of polishes for this. OPI's Dating a Royal, Essie's Fishnet Stockings, Claire's Snowball, some random Avon Metallic and Random gold Avon nail art brush, and China Glaze Medallion. *Notice anything btw?

People were asking me if they were stickers.  HAHAHA...no.

2nd set of nails (Left hand)
Thought it turned out fantablous! Especially because it has horizontal lines.  Horizontal lines on nails are the devil I tell ya!

2nd set of nails (Right Hand)
This is a fine example of "I can't use my non dominant hand without it looking like a monkey, on meth, painted my nails.  So I'll just make accent nails with simple dots".  And look how shiny it is.  I love dating a royal...and I love the polish too!  Ba-dum-chssh! I'll be here all week!

1st set of nails.
I didn't like the photos I had of this one as much.  So I didn't put it at the top because I didn't want it to be the picture that popped up on everyone's feed.

Look what I found!!!  They're a tad pricey but I DON'T CARE!!! OM NOM NOM!!!

*Those nails aren't mine.  They are nail covers.  I'm just trying them out.  Not something I'm going to do all the time.  I painted them the same way I normally paint my nails.  They sound funny when I rub my nails together.

Ps.  Sorry again for being a bad blogger :(  This week probably wont be much better.  I MAY try and post something. But I have rehearsals, shows, auditions, homework, and packing to worry about this week so I cant promise anything.

Claire's Candy Shop!

So this is decidedly more me!  I'm still rocking the Essie/Nubar combo(5 days strong, what is this magic??) but I wanted to show you a swatch I did before I put that on.

So I finally found Candy Shop at Claires, and I was SO psyched to try it and let me say, it does not disappoint!  I'm sure the Lippmann one is great, but to be frank, I like a brighter pink.  This colour is really beautiful, a really nice pink shade, and the variety of glitter is great.  Even with all the glitter, it applied very easily and I had to do very little placing of glitter.  It distributed evenly and levelled quite nicely, though it's not smooth and needs an extra layer of top coat if smoothness is a priority for you.

This is 2.5 coats(I wouldn't say it's a FULL third coat because for the third I just touched on a little extra glitter on a few spots that needed it).  Great coverage too.

As you can see, while it's levelled nicely, it's not very smooth.
This is with one coat of Essie Good To Go.

What do you think of Candy Shop?
Is it on your wish list?

St Patty's Day Guinness can mani

This is a bit late... oh well.

I everyone had a fun (and safe) night.  I know I did :)  It was full of booze, creepy men (including one who actually looked like a rat), and late night shenanigoats with the girls and the boy.  Followed by waking up late and going on a 2 hour walk because it was so nice outside!

Anyhoo most of my nails were pretty much just quick nail art.  But on 2 fingers on each hand I used Guinness cans. How did I do this? 1) Get case of Guinness 2)Drink them all 3)Save some and use it in Chocolate Guinness ice cream 4) Carefully cuts ends off of can 5) Cut can down the middle so you can open it up into a sheet 6) Cut out parts of the can you want to use 7)File them down so they fit the way you want them to (and so they aren't sharp) 8) Use the edge of a table and bend them so they fit to the nail better 9) Cover your nail in a couple layers of polish to protect it 9) Glue them down with nail glue 10) Finish with topcoat so it doesn't get scratched up.

And to answer a few questions before they are even asked 1) No they were not sharp and 2) Removal was easy. One actually fell off.   And the rest I soaked in pure acetone to loosen them and peel them off.  Getting the remaining glue of my nail was easier than removing glitter.

Left Hand: G and N from Guinness can.  And ignore my horrific broccoli floret 4 leaf clover.

Right Hand: 2 more can pieces.

 What I used:
Guinness can (I forgot to take a picture of everything else), Essie's Pretty Edgy, and Fishnet Stockings, OPI Black Onyx, Chanel Graphite, China Glaze Medallion, Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure, Claire's Snow and a bunch of paint.

Hahaha I was trying to label Orange in this post and it kept changing it to Jason Orange... I almost left it.

Lost My Water Marbling Virginity!

What better time to do it than for Valentines day! First to answer a few quick questions that I just know you all have.

1) Did it hurt?  A bit. But I was on the floor. It was a bit awkward.
2) Was it fun?  Not really... But I'm sure it will get better.
3) Are you going to do this a lot?  Not a lot.  It was messy but if it's a special occasion I'll give it another go.
4)  You're still talking about polish? Right? Get your head out of the gutter.

Anyhoo I used Claire's Snowball as a base (but you can see on my left hand thumb I forgot to put on a white base).  For the actual marbling part I used OPI's Happy Anniversary,  Got The Blues For Red, and a colour called Plum that I got from H&M.  And I topped it all with NYC's Phant-asmic (A holographic glitter in a clear base).  Because when all else fails cover it with glitter.

I did the usual plop some polish into water, use a toothpick (or in my case dotting tool) to create designs, then stick your finger in.  i didn't follow any particular tutorial because I've read so many I could kinda at this point figure it out on my own.

I think for next time I'm gonna use tape because man it was messy (check out the carnage after the cut).  Also this is probably just an thing that comes with practice but I had a hell of a time getting the design I wanted.  Even when I did sometimes cool the best part of the design would end up on my skin. Anyways for a first time I don't think it's that horrible.

Now on to the pictures!!!

Left Hand (Sunlight)

Right Hand (Sunlight)

Left Hand (Sunlight) Look at all the pretty holographic sparkles!

Now onto more pics and the blood bath of a mess that lead to this.
