Well look what we have here: Poison Claws

Even when I don't post on here for a while I am pretty much always taking photos of my nails when I do them. And I always upload them, and I'll say to myself "I'll write about you eventually".  Usually I get around to it, but today I have a manicure that I TOTALLY forgot I did till looking through my photos.

First is Dior Poison. This is a beautiful deep purple cream. It falls in that almost black, but not category. In person it is VERY dark, but it is clear that it is purple. Application was super easy 2 coats, as it is with all my Dior polishe's. To finish it off, and add a little flair, I added some Barry M Majesty. I think these two colours go together perfectly. And it's manicures like this that make me miss my longer nails.

Candy Corn. The Worst Kind of Corn.

Up until last year candy corn was this mythical thing to me. I had always associated it with Halloween, but I had never really seen it before, so obviously I had never tried it before either. But last year all of that changed. My friends mother sent her a tin of candy, which included candy corn. So I knew I had to try it.

It was disgusting.

I can safely say it was one of the most vile things I have ever tried. I can only assume licking the bottom of Satan's, well worn, devil boots would be a more pleasant experience. I would even go as far as saying it's slightly worse than eating fondant off a cake.

For this I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Pull over, as well as China Glaze Staked to be Soaked.

So I found 2 spiders today in my room. One of them was IN MY BED. Then yesterday I killed another one. Now I feel like they are everywhere, and I feel like they know I am killing their friends by flushing them away. So now they are out for vengeance. Those sneaky, 8 legged, Bastards.

These are black and white nails(and a seamless segue). These were inspired by Victoria of Manicurator, and a tutorial she did for Nail It Magazine. For mine I used Wet 'n Wild French White Cream and Zoya Dahlia. I just taped of the section I wanted black and boom, magic. Beautiful, simple, magic.

Sinful Coloor New Wave + I think I'm telepatic

So I have some polish AND art for you guys today!

First up I have Sinful Colors New Wave.  I bought this at a warehouse sale with George.  The weather was something like -30 and it was WINDY.  And yet you could not keep us away from those polishes.  It was totally worth it.  I would honestly say this colour is the closest I have to a Nine/Ten TARDIS blue.  It's a deep navy blue, but it's a bit dusty in real life.  The formula was excellent, I almost didn't need a second coat.

 

Then I decided I need to add some art to it, and for the first time ever I got out a piece of paper and started to draw some designs on it.  One of them involved tape, but I didn't really like it.  After doing this for a while I was out of ideas.  So I decided to lurk the interwebs for inspiration.  That's when I came across this manicure by Nailside after searching 'Gold nail art'.  It was actually the same design I had drawn, but it looked much better off of paper.  I have seem post from her before, but had never seen that specific manicure.  So that is how I telepathically took her idea.  Or would could have just both come up with the same design, but that answer is too easy.  To achieve this look I cut out triangles out of scotch tape.  Then I used a piece of striping tape on either side of it.  Then for the Gold I used Milani Gold Glitz.

 The ring finger had a bit of a bubbling incident :/

HEY FRIENDS

Since Fingers posted this super cute dotticure, I've had this colour combo rolling around in my head. Dots are definitely not my forte, but I love me some stripes!

My base colour is OPI French Quarter for Your Thoughts, a light, creamy grey. I love this colour so much, I think it's the only polish I've worn 3 times within a month!

 

With striping tape and OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window*, I made some diagonal stripes along half of each nail. The tip is Essie Go Overboard, with a gold stud for shazam. I think it looks very military.

How much do you love striping tape!?

*The worst polish name ever. Everyone gets their own gross mental image with this one. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, SUZI.

All Jazzed Up

I had the weirdest dream last night.  It was so weird I'm not even going to tell you about it.  Just that it was very weird and my subconscious must be a very strange place.  Then while I was posting this my computer froze so I re-stared it.  I am now finishing this 3 hours later because I accidentally fell asleep...no weird dreams were noted :P

Weird dreams and naps aside here is what I did to my China Glaze Running in Circles manicure from yesterday.  I use tape a did a manicure I saw over on Chloe's Nails. But her design was more dramatic.  I knew I wanted to have a green on green.  And I didn't want it to be obvious(I love manicure that use two similar colours).  So I used Essie Pretty edgy.  And I thought it needed a bit more so I placed a stud in the middle.  I did these nails on Friday and they still almost look EXACTLY the same right now(almost Thursday).

So what do you guys think?

Retro Stripes

HELLO! I'm back again.

Allow me to explain my infrequent posting, I feel bad - I've been crazy busy with school and have been since I started blogging here! My desire is to show you only Top Valkyrie Quality* nail art, and with 4 classes and tons of projects on the go, that can be a tough schedule to keep! That being said, I'm sure Kas and George entertain you suitably.

Ok, pity party's over. Today's manicure is a simple striped design made with Scotch tape and some shamelessly 70's colours. I used a base of Did It On 'Em, topped with Fly and A Roll In The Hague, all by OPI. These colours make me think of vintage Kitchenaid stand mixers.

I worked on these through the day while I should have been was working hard on an essay. They kind of but not really matched my swimsuit, since I went to a sexy bikini party totally classy soiree for fancy responsible adults once I finished my homework!

*Messy, free-handed french tips are punishable by death.

Wasted Funky French

Do you ever do you nails, and they look all pretty, and then the plans you had for that night get cancelled.

This is the story of those nails.

Well there really is no story.  Stuff happens so I had to cancel my plans.  So I'll just stay at home on this Sunday eve.  I may have a beer and eat seaweed snacks and catch up on the X Factor UK.  Like a grown up.

Oh and I used OPI's Black Onyx and Just Spotted The Lizard.  As well as both scotch and striping  tape.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, BEETLEJUICE! - These Are Clearly Birthday Dinner Nails

First off let me thank everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday the other day!  I had a great night of drinking and karaoke.  BUT the fun isn't over yet!  Tonight I'm going out for a birthday dinner with a few friends, followed by dancing!

Originally I was going to do just a bit of nail art.  Nothing too time consuming.  Then out of no where I though "Beetlejuice nails...I need to do them!".  I don't know why I wanted to do them I just did.  Also it's a rule of thumb that you can do whatever you want on your birthday dinner.  Minus murder, cow tipping and a full two act puppet show.  Besides they go perfect with sushi right?

I actually started with a pure white cream.  But that was patchy and gross, so I covered it up with Essie Moonstruck.  I actually like how it wasn't a stark white because, Beetlejuices suit isn't exactly clean. Next I sponged on green acrylic paint, OPI Black Onyx and then Urban Outfitters Forest.  So it kind of mimics the stuff growing on his face.  Next I did all the stripes by hand with paint.  Cutting tape to the perfect size was just too much of a pain.  And I really liked how this turned out.  Finally I added Beetlejuice's green hair to my ring fingers.

All in all I'm really pleased with this.  Now all getting all excited thinking of Halloween and all the potential manicures!

Studded, Purple, Holographic Goodness aka Badass Chic Nails

Oh man.  I would have posted this earlier BUT I have feeling pretty gross all day.  It was one of my best friend birthdays.  And I overindulged in happy water (And meat...we went to  Korean grill...that has nothing to do with the drinking but it was fraking good).  And sent more than a few inappropriate texts before passing out.  That was my Monday (Granted it was a holiday so I feel a little less like a sad person).

Anyways let's get our faces back on track.  Yesterday I posted swatches for Sephora by OPI's Just a Little Dangerous.  I wore it for a day like that knowing I was going to bling it out for my friends birthday the next day.  Purple is her favourite colour and I wanted to make sure it was good and dry for when I put tape on it.

I figured this would be the time I use my OPI DS Original!  Having bought it dusty hunting in Montreal (but that's another story).  Recently on Nailside I saw she did a studded mani.  Which was funny because I had had actually been thinking of doing one but using microbeads.  So after I saw that I knew I HAD to do it.

I used tape and did the v-gaps, then I covered it in a coat of clear nail polish and carefully placed the beads one by one.  Finally I sealed it in with two coats of topcoat* so the beads weren't going anywhere.

I love it!  It turned out badass chic.  Is that a term?  If not it's MINE! I'm just sort of kidding.  And this was one hard polish to capture on camera.  Let me just say even the best photo I took pales in comparison the epicness it radiated in real life.

*I have heard that using topcoat can sometime dull the effect of holos.  Let me just say that after covering the holo with a coat of clear polish AND two coats of topcoat the holo effect was just as strong.

Fun with striping tape and the new China Glaze Summer Neons...

So not too long ago I received some striping tape, and I made my first attempt at a mani with it, and I think it went decidedly.... Okay.  It's not great, but not bad.  I'd give it a solid B!

I used the three China Glaze Summer Neons that I picked up(Sun-kissed, I'm With The Lifeguard, and Surfin' For Boys) and my favourite Orly Liquid Vinyl.  Sure, the idea's not exactly original, but it's really fun and I certainly enjoyed wearing it.

Once I figure out how to take the tape off more effectively, I think I'll be a lot better(see: the spot on my index finger..).  So there'll be lots of these in my future until I get it perfect.

Do you guys like doing tape manis like this?  Any tips you can give me on getting better?

If not, any fun colour combos you'd like to see?

Orly Sweet Peacock + First Laser Mani!!!

So today I have for you Orly Sweet Peacock.  A stunning blue foil.  I originally wasn't going to get this but it came in an uber cheap pack of 3 (That also included Fowl Play and Lucky Duck).

Application was easy as pie (what does that even mean? Baking pie? Eating pie? 3.14?).  Whatever.  The formula was easy as folding a piece of paper in 2.  I got full coverage in 2 coats.  And it dried faster than the speed of light... well slower, but that saying makes more sense.

So after 2 days I decided I wanted to liven it up a bit and I used tape and did my first laser mani!!! Ok well second. Mt first was a disaster of epic proportions.  The only eff ups I had here were you can see on my index finger one of the lasers stops abruptly.  I was using Sally Hanson's Xtream Wear in Ivy League and as some of yo might know the bottles are long as well as the brushes.  Anyways it dripped down from the top (Fun fact:  I started writing this post Friday and on a whim went out for dinner with friends. A glass full of liquor berry's, the same clothes, and 2 days later It's Sunday evening I'm back home picking up from where I left off.) and it pooled when I removed the tape.  Luckily despite that it pooled in to create a crisp line.

I've currently had the many on for almost 6 days now and there is only tip wear!!!  Yay!!!

I change clothes now!!!

It's currently Monday... This post took 4 days from start to finish.  And my nails are significantly shorter.

OPI Over The Taupe

 Let's talk nudes for a second guys guys.

1) Always, always, ALWAYS lock your phone.  You don't want people rummaging.
2) I wish there were more nude polish collections that also had darker skin in mind.  The few nudes I have are random browns, from random collections. And most nude collections look far better on lighter skin.

Anywhoo just a simple swatch today! Over The Taupe is green... It's not, it's taupe. OPI made this easy for me. It's a taupe cream.  It reminds me of coffee!  I used 3 coats in the photos.  The sad thing is I love this colour but have only worn it out once, yet I've done I think 5 manicures with it.  Most of the time I either ended up not going out or taking it off because I changed my mind.

I added black tips(OPI Black Onyx) in an attempt to look classy with a side of badass. I'm pretty sure that was a success.
