eXtra Special Nails. You Wont Get It.

Maybe I will explain these nails later, but I like them at the moment because most people wont understand them. Just a select few ;) That makes them eXtra Special.  This was mostly done with acrylic paint.

Ok, THIS post is late: Things are getting hairy

So I have missed a few weeks of the A-Z Challenge, but one week I didn't want to miss was unusual. I feel like in the past I did a lot of weird manicures and I kind of miss doing them like I used to. I though this would be a great time to try something I had been wanting to give a go for a while. And since I was busy the week of this challenge I never did it until the other day.

Back in December someone in a Facebook group I'm part of posted a video that shared 3 nail polish tricks. One of them involved making a striping brush out of your own hair. I thought that would be great to try with my hair, my natural hair. My hair is currently a bunch of different textures, so I decided to cut a little over an inch long coil from the end of my hair(after I cut it I stretched out the coil and it was over 7 inches long. Not surprising as it's curly and I have shrinkage), and tape it to the end of another brush handle. Then I went to town painting with my own hair. First I used pink and orange acrylic paint, then I used Orly Charged Up for the purple. Obviously because my hair is curly I'm not going to get stripes, but I did like the design I ended up with. It was like a combination of splatters and flowers :P

More Bunnies(but of the dust kind) - My Sneeziest Manicure Yet!

One thing I haven't done in a while is just a really weird manicure. I actually wasn't planning on doing this but other ideas fell through.

1)When I originally chose the eyeballs for review from KKCenterHk I had a REALLY cool idea. It's a shame I completely forgot what it was.
2)My next idea was to add them to some cat water decals. Because cats with googly eyes are AMAZING! But the cats were to small and it was less funny when it was a cat body with an eye head.
3)My next idea was add them to water decals I had of random thing like lips, sunglasses and mustaches. Because googly eyes on inanimate objects is EVEN MORE AMAZING! Buuuttt I could not for the life of me find them.

So I ended up with these Dust Bunnies. Made from actual dryer lint! It was easy to place the lint on, and I did it in a similar manner to when you would use flocking powder. Then I put 2 dots of nail glue and stuck the eyes to them using a dotting tool dipped in clear polish.

The googly eyes are 3mm in diameter. They are the smallest you can get. I honestly think )for me at least) any bigger and they would be overwhelming. I stuck these on with nail glue because I don't think these are something I would top coat, as they are tall(3 maybe 4mm). They are also a bit harder to pick up then most studs, because when you lay them out they almost always end up on their sides. I also found it easier once they were on the nail to press them gently with my fingers. You don't have to worry about ruining the rest of the design because again, they are so high. On the website it says each jar comes with 40pcs, but there has to be at least 150 in here, if not a bit more.

If you would like your very own jar of eyes, head on over to KKCenterHK where they retail for $5 USD. You can also try and use our discount code(listed on the left sidebar), BUT I'm not sure if it has been extended yet or not. I'll place the code in here when I know for sure.

Sweet Color Nail Polish - More adventures with me putting stuff that isn't meant for nails, on my nails, and a dash of Anderson Cooper. (NOTE: I did not put Anderson Cooper on my nails).

I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend!    This week for the first time EVER I  forgot I had to go lead a workshop for children.  Well not really forgot so much as I thought it was a different day!  I felt horrible!  I've never done anything like this before.  I'm lucky that by chance someone extra was there and took my spot. *facepalm* Never again!

Anyways on to polish!  Today I have my first Sweet Color Polish from the Born Pretty Store.  This polish does not have a name.  It is simply listed as S037.  It also says it's eco friendly, but does not say any more than that.  So I can't say if it's 3 or 5-free.   The polish is a grape coloured, cream polish and I had it completely opaque in 3 coats.  Application was tricky though because of the brush.  It was super duper floppy and a bit hard to control.  Now I don't like them too stiff *giggle*,  but floppy is also a no no *giggle*.  There's that happy inbetween.  But keep in mind this may also be a personal preference.  I'm sure some people out there like them floppy... *giggle*.

Sunlight
 Light box
Note:  That's not tip wear on my ring finger.  It's shrinkage from not wrapping properly.

I wore it on it's own for a day, then I added some of that temporary hair colour.  You know the one that you spray on and then you just wash out at the end of the day.  I originally bought this because I was dressing up as Anderson Cooper to go to an Anime convention.  Yes, you read that correctly.  I decided to use it for a bit of nail art and see if I could get a simple gradient effect.   I think it turned out pretty neat.  But I thought it still needed something.  So I added this silver, no name glitter I had.  Pretty pleased with how it turned out!!!

If you would like to try some sweet polishes they retail for $6.14 USD.  But you can use out 10% discount code EAL91 and get a discount!

Have you tried Sweet Color polishes?  Do you put weird things on your nails?  Or is that just me?

*Product sent for honest review

Random Wednesday: I can't swallow

Pills.

You're a dirty bunch.

I actually had a review planned for today but the polish I wanted to use for a base (Cult Nails Time Traveler) bubbled like crazy and I don't know.  The formula was just off.  So instead I'm doing this.

Yes it's true I can't swallow pills.  Now before you start giving me advice know that I have heard it all. "It's easy," "Throw it to the back of your throat then just drink water," "Put water in your mouth first then pop it in.  That way you don't know it's there."  I get it guys.  Let me start by saying it is a head thing.  In theory I know it's not hard to do but I just can't do it.  There  is something that just stops me and that is the hard thing to get over.  I can swallow food and...other things(;P) but for some reason whole idea seems hard for people to understand.

Now you are probably wondering how do I take medicine?

1) Things like Oxycodone or Acetaminophen that aren't coated I put in hot chocolate and let it dissolve completely.  So long as it's not cotaed it's wicked easy to dissolve.  The hot chocolate generally tastes a bit less sweet but it's not bad.

Other drugs I wont mix apart from coated are iron(it made the hot chocolate taste like blood), and antibiotics(It tastes like licking the floor on the deepest darkest pits of hell.)

2) When I had my wisdom teeth out they prescribed antibiotics.  They originally gave me "easy swallow" capsules.  And let's be honest that really wasn't the time to learn and they ended up tasting horrific in hot chocolate.  I eventually got the drug in liquid form.  It tasted pretty good!  So I will get stuff in liquid form.  Loads of drugs come in liquid form you just have to ask.

3) Gummies.  I take my multivitamin in gummy form(they make them for adults).  It's actually the worst because you want to eat them all.

4) Things like ibuprofen generally come coated or in gel.  If you dissolve these they are horrific.  They are generally too harsh and will burn going down.  So when I have aches and pains(like my back the other week) I will sometimes use children's medicine.  I don't actually take a higher dosage because they recommend if possible you dose by weight.  I fall just outside the highest dosage by a couple pounds.  And yes, it does work AND taste like fruit punch.

5) I don't mind needles.  It hasn't come to this but I realize that some drugs do come in liquid form but need to be injected.

I just keep getting weirder and weirder.  Questions?

Vein Nails: I have a semi. A semi fail that is.

Do you ever have one of those ideas?  Really random, weird ideas?  I do.

Well the other day I was thinking of transparent animals, because no one can stop me.  That lead to me thinking of veins that you can see through skin.  And I wondered could I do that on nails?

I knew I was going to have to sandwich blue in between a sheer nutral.  Now I had nothing that matched my skin so I used a random Nailene french mani polish.  As well as Milani Dude Blue(ugh) for the veins.  Finally I added a layer of matte topcoat.

Now there's a few things you should take note of when looking at these photos.  1) The Camera tends to make the Nailene polish look a lot yellower when under light that's not natural.  2) The more light the less visible the veins were in photos.  In real life they look more like the last 2 photos.  Which were taken with a tiny bit of natural light 3) What I'm trying to say is these were IMPOSSIBLE to photograph.  Any lighting I would consider good lighting essentially washes out the veins.

Now this is a semi fail because this actually looks pretty cool in real life.  The "skin" looks a lot more natural and the veins are a bit more visible.  But not too visible.  Enough that they look sort of like veins :P

You guys get any weird nail ideas?  Do you actually go through with them even though they my fail?
